For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with country music, playing it all hours of the day in my bedroom, or rockin’ it out in the car as a teenager. (yes, you can rock out to country music). I suppose it’s growing up in the country that started me on this obsession. Numerous times since leaving home I have had people try to persuade me to love other music and I do, but only to an extent. I will always and forever be a country fan.
When I moved to the UK I was devastated that there was no country music. Some top country artists have jumped from country to pop (being branded traders by country folk, haha) so they have made their way over to this side of the ocean but most have not. I went a while without it but really started to miss it. Now, I am trying to catch up on all the time that has lapsed since I was an avid country listener. Recently, I have come across the radio stations online which don’t buffer too badly so I can rejoin my country stars.
I thought I would share with you each Wednesday a few of the top country songs I am listening to this week, bringing a little country music to the UK.
Lady Antebellum – Downtown
Little Big Town – Boondocks
Band Perry – Done
Florida Georgia Line – Stay
Eric Paslay – Friday Night
David Nail- Whatever She Got
Little Big Town’s song “Boondocks” is one of my all time favorites. It gives you a little glimpse into my childhood and brings back so many memories for me. That’s what I love about country music, it tells a story. Since I was born and raised in the country I can related to many of them.
So go on, listen to the videos above, tell me what you think? Do any stick out for you? Maybe are your new favorite or do you down right hate country music?
Each Wednesday I will be sharing more country music here. Stay tuned!
