Thursdays are Girls Days

Thursdays are Girls Days! A day each week, where Daddy goes to work, and Buba goes to nursery and it leaves me and little Missy Moo to do whatever we want together. I love spending one on one time with my kids. To give them my full undivided attention, is so much easier and I get to notice more about them, separately. Not that I don’t love having both of them around but it’s nice once a week to have our girl time together.

Usually we go swimming, Missy Moo loves the water. She has been a natural fish since the day I first took her to lessons. Then we always go out to lunch just the two of us. I love taking my kids out to lunch just us. I did it with Buba and I do it now with Missy Moo and sometimes both. It’s fun to chat to them and they may not remember it when they grow up but I will. I am sure people find it weird that I sit there and talk to my 10 month old during lunch. But I don’t care. It’s our time together. And what mother doesn’t like showing her kids off in public too? lol Missy Moo is always ready to throw an onlooker a smile or flirt with the boy next to us.

Occasionally we let close friends join us but for the most part it’s just us two. It’s are special bonding time to be out and about doing girlie things. After lunch if there is time before Missy Moo falls asleep in her stroller for her nap we walk around a few shops as we are always eating at a retail park or the mall so plenty stores to have a nosy in. Mommy has been known to keep shopping while Missy Moo sleeps too, but shhh we won’t tell anyone that part.

This last Thursday we were unable to go swimming do to those pesky Chicken Pox that were popping out everywhere. Thought I would give it a week before I scare all the other Moms in the pool. It’s funny how kids are more contagious before breaking out but not after scabbing yet that’s when parents are most scared of it when they see you in public. I have got some rather stern angry mother looks this week wherever we have gone.

Needless to say I wasn’t going to let those angry Moms keep us in on our Thursday Girls’ Day. She had scabbed over therefore wasn’t contagious anymore, even though I decided against swimming, we still went out. It was a lovely sunny day so we took a nice walk to our local coffee shop, had our lunch together then came back home for some relaxing play time as Missy Moo still seemed a bit under the weather. She had her nap and soon perked back up.

She will never grow tired of “Peekaboo” or we say, “Where’s baby?” You should hear her infectious giggles when we play it. But only recently has she started to put things in front of her own face to play with me. It was hilarious when she kept using this jumbo puzzle piece as her face block! “Peekaboo”. Or in hindsight she probably was telling me enough photos already.

Either way, whether we are out or in, I love that our Thursdays are Girls Days! Time spent doing ordinary things together, but great memories to cherish forever.

  1. Lovely! Your Thursdays sound wonderful. I have Tuesdays and Thursdays with Jasmin – they are our girl days while Milin is at nursery. It’s lovely to have one-on-one quality time. XX

    • Ahh so glad you get one on one time together with yours too. It really is so very special. I was so worried I wouldn’t ever get that with my second but it’s been amazing.

  2. Beautiful post! I know exactly what you mean having your girlie day. It’s nice to have that little one on one time and share special moments with them both. I’m pleased you ignored the angry mums, there’s always one to moan about something. (I voted for you too.)

    • Ahhh Michelle thank you ever so much. Yes, I didn’t use to ignore the angry moms but life is too short. If I think I am doing the right thing then that’s what matters I suppose. lol Thanks for stopping by and definitely for all the support and blog love.

    • Yes it’s so lovely to have individual time with both kids. I love our time all together but it’s not to just focus solely on one for a whole day every once in awhile. Give them undivided attention.

  3. This is lovely. Photo’s are gorgeous! Its so nice to be able to spend one on one time with your littles, especially when its so hard to divide your attention when your all together!

    • Yes it really is. These days it’s semi attention for both so it’s nice to solely concentrate on one and give them quality attention on our special days together.

  5. I love the last photo of you two gorgeous ladies. You must relish these girly days with you beautiful little lady. I don’t get much one on one time with my two, but I think I may think about putting Mads in nursery one extra morning so I can spend some time with LL as firstly I think it will help her get ready for school more and secondly she had two years of me all to herself and LL hasn’t had any. 😉 x

    • That’s why I started doing it because Buba had me all to himself for two years and Missy Moo never did so I put him in nursery one day but it’s going to two days in september and Missy Moo one day as she is getting really clingy and won’t go to anyone I think too much Momma time not that I don’t love it. But will help her a few hours a week learn to be with others. Thanks for hosting my lovely.

    • Yes us too. My 2 1/2 year old laughs his head off with peakaboo while I do it to Missy Moo now too. So I can get them both laughing with one easy game. Get’s old quick but they never tire of it. lol

  6. These are gorgeous photos, who wouldn’t want a little of that grin during a girlie day! Well done you for ignoring the angry mums too. My parenting style is very different to that of the Italian parents around me, and it makes me self-conscious sometimes. How could it not? But I know it’s just me and the Bean’s happiness that matter, plus a little common sense…

    • So true, glad you stick to your own roots and what’s best for you two not them. It is hard being in a different culture I know that feeling all too well. Thanks for stopping by and commenting hun.

    • Thats great. One to one is so important as the first born gets all that extra time and special attention I think the second and third if you have them should get special time too. Only fair. and So much easier to give them your all during that time together. Glad you get some each week.
