It’s BBQ season but that doesn’t mean if you don’t own a BBQ that you can’t host your own backyard gathering. It’s summer and there is no better way to celebrate than having friends around the house for a drink and a nibble. Hostessing friends is one of my favorite parts about summer and sharing in laughter together. Somehow the sunshine makes us all want to eat and be merrier together.
I have teamed up with CostCutter who own and supply the brand Independent. While you may think of CostCutter being the local shop to grab a quick chocolate bar or milk on the way home from work, it actually has amazing options for fresh produce and a variety of household items too. It is one of those smaller shops that still has everything you need and the best part it’s all on your doorstep. We used to have one near us and no other larger shop so we did almost all our shopping in CostCutter for years. The fruit and vegetables are always fresh as well as their meat options. I really liked relying on the Independent brand.
Since my family absolutely love sausages I have been creating a few new favorites to add to our family mealtimes the past few weeks. You can check out my Spicy Sausage Casserole for cooking for larger groups or on a night you don’t have much time for a hearty meal to enjoy together. Or keeps scrolling to find out what I have been cooking up for a great non-BBQ, BBQ dish. One that’s perfect for friends over to pick and share with and easy to make.
I love this recipe because you can serve it numerous different ways. If it’s one just for the family serve it with Independent Pitta Bread and a side salad. We like filling our pitta breads with the sausage and roasted vegetables for a pitta pocket full of flavor. This works well if you are hosting a non-BBQ, BBQ for your friends too. It’s easy to walk around socializing and carrying a pitta pocket. Otherwise, have mini paper cups for friends to fill with their roasted sausage and potatoes and mini forks to really get the party started. Serve with mini glasses of red wine. Red wine and sausage have always been best friends and pair nicely together.

Why not pin this to your BBQ board on pinterest or recipes for future reference. It’s easy and quick to make and one even the kids absolutely love to eat. You could even use toothpicks if you have a lot of guest coming and you want it to be easier to share around the party. It’s the perfect non-BBQ recipe for a summer get together. Who doesn’t love sausage and a sticky honey mustard glaze?
