Last day in May, no way! Cheesy to say that I know but so true. This month we were prepared for our family captures as we were enjoying sunny Spain at the beginning of the month. It seems like months ago we were visiting our friends and soak up Marbella’s sun rays. Whilst I came home and my SD card said empty (devastation) all my videos and a few favorite family captures were gone I did capture these few on my iphone just in case. Thank goodness. I love this gorgeous flower wall outside my friend’s house, it’s just stunning and from the first time we came to their house I have been dying to take a family capture in front of it. The kids didn’t have the same ideas but it’s still a lovely setting. We have had a good May so much has been happening and our days seem to blur together. I can’t actually believe we were in Spain this month and so much has happened since then. Now we are on half term enjoying a little down time which was much needed before school finishes up and we head to America for the summer. That right there is excitement!

I have really had a great month in May with my little family. While it feels weird to think it’s just us four and that are family is complete as I always thought I would have a lot more children, I have been looking at life a lot differently lately. I soak up more little moments than I did before. I have been so much better at dropping things if the kids are asking for something and not in a spoil-them kind of way but more of a I-am-here-for-you kind of way. I used to get so tied up into making sure the house was spotless, dish done, laundry on the go, schedules updated and running around the kids half the time, I was forgetting that that stuff will always be there waiting but my children won’t be. They won’t wait forever for that answer to their silly question or that cuddle and a kiss they wanted at that moment. Their funny saying may not come again that will make you belly laugh so hard or that moment when they just wanted you to look at them.
At this age, their time is short before growing up and I am appreciating them as much as possible. I am putting aside the things that don’t really matter. The dishes can wait, the laundry isn’t going anywhere and the house is their playground so I say let them play. I have OCD so this was hard for me but it’s helped me so much to have more amazing moments with them than ever before. Just don’t come knocking on my door, unannounced because normally I would embrace you and welcome you in my spotless abode but that was before I let the house go. Now, I schedule time for all that nonsense house work in between my crazy nonsense work work. The few hours a day that I have my kids together from pick ups to bedtimes are hours for just them. A few experiences and a few good friends have changed my perspective on life this month. I hope I hold onto this feeling I have and this outlook on my life in this moment, forever.
