When it comes to being pregnant it can sometimes be hard to know when you need to get checked out and when you it’s just another pregnancy symptom. More often than not, you are fine but it’s good to get checked out or at leats communicate any and all concerns with your midwife or doctor. I thought I would share with you 8 pregnancy symptoms you should not ignore, if you have them excessively or you have a lot of discomfort with any of these symptoms. Sometimes the small signs can be a clue to bigger issues and it’s always better to be on the safe side.
I have actually suffered most of these symptoms severely in my third pregnancy (this pregnancy) and I am so glad I didn’t just put it down to another pregnancy symptom or like most people around me telling me it’s probably just because you are a lot older than the first time you were pregnant or blame it on a third time round. I was very open and honest with my midwife and between her and the doctor they gave me the relief I needed for my vertigo while making sure baby is safe and healthily growing inside me when I was cramping and bleeding too.
So if you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or planning on getting pregnant in the future, keep an eye on yourself and baby. Watch those normal symptoms and make sure they are not painful, not excessive, and if you have any worries about any of these or anything else ring your midwife they are so comforting and understanding the phone too. Sometimes a little reassurance goes a long way. A stressed and worried momma, isn’t good for baby.
Most importantly to avoid things going wrong, listen to your body. It will tell you when too much is too much of anything. Be cautious when working out but don’t worry about it harming baby to continue normal workout routines just modify them as you grow bigger.
Eat as healthy as possible, which is the hardest thing to do when you craving everything but healthy foods. Even when I am eating bad, I tried to balance it with lots of fruit and vegetables. Nothing wrong with eating a pizza or two a long the way and giving into those cravings a little.
Rest a lot. I know this is a given but it’s so important even if we are feeling great to rest when we can and go to bed when we can. Our bodies sometimes tell us we have high energy and it catches up with you in the end. I am a busy person and resting and relaxing is not in my nature but I have noticed more than ever in my third pregnancy that I need to make more time for it. It definitely caught up with me over Christmas holidays this year.
Drink lots of water…. I get shouted out daily for not drinking water even when I wasn’t pregnant as I hate water. It’s not my cup of tea or coffee for that matter. That’s all I really drink when I am not pregnant. I find water makes me nauseous too which isn’t fair on someone trying to drink more and not like it even less.
Of course, throughout your pregnancy there will be highs and lows of how good we feel. Our bodies are changing massively and rapidly growing a human being. Enjoy it and don’t worry it goes faster than you think.
