PhraseDayFriday14BalloonsHappy Friday everyone! Welcome back for another Phrase Day Friday. A post all about the funny things that our entertaining toddler is coming out with each week. I never thought learning to speak would be so highly entertaining before I had kids. I look forward to it all over again when Missy Moo starts to talk. Oh the funny conversations they will have together too. This space can only get funnier and funnier, so stay tune. For now, we will relish in Buba’s commentary.

He seems to be back to one liners this week, but instead of ones about bodily functions or attitude problems these one liners would melt your heart.

While we were playing with his Cars on the floor on Monday, he randomly reached over, put his hand on my face to pull it towards him. “Hi sweetie, what you doing?” he said. His genuine love for me was overwhelming, I almost cried but my laughter over took my emotions because it was so random and cute. I have no idea where he got it from, as it’s not something his Dad or I say to him or his sister. But all week long he has been calling me sweetie which is so funny. I have yet to correct him, obviously!

Another one liner to his toys on Wednesday, “hey, what you doing under here?” pulling his toy eggs out from underneath the couch.

I asked him if he wanted to be a big boy now and take the sides off his bed with me. Buba’s response, “Ok, let’s do it, Mommy,” jumping off the couch and heading towards his room. I didn’t actually mean right that second, but now is better than never, I suppose. lol

And his new favorite one liner is to say, “ohhh, sorry about that,” for everything. If someone bumps into him, or he accidentally bumps into us or Missy Moo. If we ask him to do something and try to explain what we mean, he will say it, which makes me giggle. If he climbs on the couch and knocks off a pillow, he says it to the pillow. If he drops food on the floor, he will say it to the peas that lay on the floor. If he pees on the floor and stands in it until we notice and we tell him to pee-pee in the potty not on the floor, he says it to the floor not to us. The list of things he apologized to is endless and so hilarious, as long as he doesn’t get sectioned for talking to inanimate objects.

Do your toddlers saying funny things? I would love to hear them, comment below. Come join me each Friday sharing my funny phrases with all of you. If you missed last week’s funny, check it out here.

  1. Aw how sweet, I wish I’d had the sense to record those moments. Not that it stops with toddler stage, my girls are 5 and 8 and still say the strangest and funniest of things. They’ve both always called dolls/toys ‘little darling’ and I have no idea where they got that from.

    • That is so cute. You should, never too late to start my dear. It’s great to go back and reread them when Mr P and I want to have a good laugh. I have been doing it for 14 weeks now so I think at the end of each year I am going to put them all in a book for him to read back through someday. Especially when his sister and him both get talking together. It never stops! So entertaining.

  2. What a sweetheart! Whenever Rynne sees babies she always tells me that I have to get her one so she can hold it (usually when I’m looking at pics on FB lol). But the funniest thing coming out of her mouth is when I ask her to do something she will say “I can’t right now, I’m busy”.

    • It’s funny because we weren’t really telling him to say sorry he just picked it up really. Now he says it for everything. He is very good with his please, thank yous and sorrys. I love it.

    • Thanks for stopping by Helen. Love toddler stereotypes. Mine is always pulling them. Those crazy common one liners. Think he might be a comedian. Lol

  3. Oh I remember the sorry phase! And please. There was a time when my kids thought everything could be solved by a please or a sorry. Actually it’s a pretty good approach!
Thanks for joining in again x

    • Haha He thinks please and sorry will get him anything and everything he wants. Hard to explain that sometimes it doesn’t work to a 2 year old. hahaha
