Pink Paint, Parks and Pigtails

Happy Friday! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

It’s the weekend. I am ignoring the weather report and praying it changes to blue skies. We wanted to get to our local park and enjoy all that it has to offer. We are so lucky to have numerous play areas and parks near us but one always holds our hearts with it’s beautiful gardens, woodland walks, cafe, feeding ducks and wide paths to zoom our scooters on. It’s pretty special to us.

It’s Spring time now, so that means golf season has started. I am a golf widow. If you are one too, you know what I mean. I love that my husband loves playing a sport so passionate so that leaves me and the kids visiting our parks a lot on each weekend so we can get as much fresh air as Daddy. Soon I daresay, our son will start to join him and it will be down to two playing at the park on the weekend. It’s so cute that he is following in his Daddy’s footsteps and he just got a mini golf bag that makes me want to cry. My baby boy is growing up way too fast on me. Pink Paint, Parks and PigtailsTHIS WEEK I AM LOVING :

If you are a lover of Gilmore Girls or slightly obsessed like I am, I got a few books from a close friend that shares these same obsessions and I can’t wait to read them. In fact, there was another one called “Coffee at Luke’s,” along with these two but I let another friend borrow it first. It’s been a long time since I have truly wanted to sit and watch a whole season of one show without a break and yet Gilmore Girls I could watch season after season. I am years late jumping on the bandwagon but it’s fab. I can’t wait to now read further into the minds of the characters and the wit. Lorelei reminds me so much of myself. Not just because she is the first person that I have ever heard talk faster than me. My own mother can vouched for me here. But that and her love for coffee, her glutton for food, and her positive outlook on things is like looking in the mirror sometimes. I also think the relationship between her and her daughter is so much like my own mother and I too. I think that’s why I am so in love with the show. Enough about the show, I will let you know how the books are too.

Have you “heard” Mother’s Day is just around the corner. I got to do a fun collaboration with John Lewis for New Mums Gift Ideas this week and they ended up picking me to feature on their website too. I was so excited. I know sounds like something small but they are really strict on what they share and it’s along with so many other lovely bloggers, it made my day so I thought I would share it with you. Please do check it out, mine or their feature here: Mother’s Day Hampers for all mamas.

I have failed my weekly vlogging. I had a cut lip last week and than my only day to film this week I had two doctors appointments with the kids so I don’t have a vlog to share here for you all. But plenty in the pipeline to catch up with coming soon. I promise.

I have already raved about watching the Gilmore Girls endlessly. I have also been watching pink paint dry. Yup, a cop out but true. I painted my sitting room a lovely pale pink as all the furniture was grey. I thought it would make everything flow nicely together. It was an awful cream color before where it looks like someone smoked in it for years. Bad, paint I think as it’s a new build. I am still putting final touches like this purple pop will soon be copper with this green plant and I am painting the lower cacti pot with metallic. This is the room I have mixed silver and copper in and am loving the effects. As soon as I finish I will have a full room tour to share with you.

I haven’t had a chance to share with you any of my new outfits I talked about in my February Little Loves vlog. I had one day where I tried to get some of myself it just isn’t as easy to do it without a helping hand. I don’t know how fashion bloggers do it. Please tell me your secret. I will have some soon but until then it’s easy to share this ones new spring wardrobe. I am loving her new rainbow tights and her gorgeous Michael Kors yellow spring jacket.

Lately, she has refused to wear her hair in anything but pigtails. I can no longer get her to do a bun on top which I loved on her or a ponytail and forget braiding/plaiting too. She will tear it out. I am so sad because she finally has lovely curly hair to do things with and she just wants the same thing everyday. I did get her to have it down for a week. It’s got an ombre look to it at the moment and wavy which is lovely but she just ends up looking a mess an hour after I pin her bangs up to the side. Do you fight with your daughters on hairstyles?

I have made something very special this year for Easter and I can’t wait to share it with you. I think it’s one of my best recipes yet. I know, tooting my own horn but it really is creamy and dreamy. Here is a little sneak peak to guess what it involves. I have to say cutting Creme Eggs nicely in half isn’t as easy as it looks. I will hopefully have the recipe live before next week to showcase the finished creation. It does include mini eggs and it screams Easter.

This week on my instagram hashtag community, #LIFECLOSEUP it’s all about following our kiddos around while they explore Spring. I love snapshots from behind. It’s like seeing into someone’s world secretly. There were hundreds joining in so it was easy to pick a theme this week. Here are this week’s favorite features. I would love you to come join us in sharing your zoomed in captures.

  3. Jenny being chosen for the John Lewis website is HUGE, well done lovely. I have already checked those books out on Amazon. We are on season 3 (I say WE as my husband is also a huge fan too) and I love everything about GG. I am definitely interested in reading her autobiography. Looking forward to your Easter creation x

  5. I LOVE doing hair and I encourage my daughter Lily to let me try different ‘dos but each day she requests a “strong plait” for school. So a practical ponytail plait combo which may be a bit dull but create super crimped hair the next day.
Ah I loved watching GG throughout uni and I’ve just started watching the Netflix series. No spoilers!
Well done on the John Lewis blog, go you!
Ooh I’m yet to make any Easter creation, but I know what it will be, also involving creme eggs. Yum yum!
Have a great weekend and week ahead, golf widow 😉

    • I wouldn’t ever do a spoiler no way. It’s such a great show. Ahh blesss her. I can’t braid at all. A strong braid is probably all I can do. lol My daughter has fine silky hair too so never stays in. Thanks. Creme eggs scream Easter everytime. Can’t go wrong with them.

  6. Jenny I have been excited about your Easter cake since seeing your sneak peek on insta stories-eek! My hubby is a massive golf fan too and has been playing since he was young. He has his first game with some friends next Saturday and i love that he has something he loves so much-now to find something to get me out for the whole day too, can spa days be a hobby? I love Gilmore Girls too, these books might have to go on my ever growing to read list. Have a lovely weekend x

  7. Can’t wait to see what you’ve made, your recipes are always amazing! MM looks so cute with her pigtails – think yourself lucky it’s just pigtails you have to try to persuade her out of, my teen wants the underneath of her hair shaved off and a Harry Potter sign of some sort cut into it. Needless to say that’s been vetoed! I didn’t realise Lauren Graham had written a novel, I’ll have to add it to my wishlist. Have a lovely weekend x

  8. Your cakes are always amazing so I can’t wait to see this one. My eldest is very fussy about her hair. She hates having it tied up. It starts everyday in a ponytail or pigtails but it’s rare it stays up all day. Love MM’S tights and jacket.

  9. Ooh, I’m looking forward to the Easter recipe, crème eggs and mini eggs what’s not to like? My daughter and I have lots of hair styling ‘conversations’ I like it to be neat and tidy, plaits or pony tail but she does her own very creative designs now. It seems the fashion now is to leave a considerable strand loose so you can ‘hide’ behind it in school and do the look! She’s only 8 but seems like a teenager. You have beautiful accessories in your living room, such a lovely colour on the walls too.

    • I was late to the party but omg I love it. Reminds me of growing up with my own single mother and they are so much like my relationship with my mom too. Makes me laugh so hard. It’s a long time coming but I love that room now it’s my favorite in the whole house now.

  11. And I’ve now seen your easter cake – so amazing! Love the look of those Gilmore Girls books, I’m still on Season 4 but ploughing through it and savouring every moment. Only one member of my family likes it though so a bit tricky 🙁 Pale pink in your living room sounds lovely Jenny, hoping for a sneaky peek soon! x

    • I am just about to start them but didn’t want to read the book and it give anything away with the show so I had to make sure I finished the series first.
