Pregnancy: 14 Weeks Bump Watch

Last updated on March 4th, 2024 at 10:12 pm

Time is flying by… I know I still have 25 weeks to go but I found out I was pregnant at four days pregnant. I thought it meant that it would be the longest pregnancy ever but in reality I am so busy with two other children I can’t believe I am 14 weeks this week. And in fact, I always post these a few days into my 14 weeks so I can talk about how I am feeling during my 14 weeks so I am really 14 weeks +3 days now.

I am less tired and have a lot more energy which is a relief. Those exhausted nights when I knew I had work to do but just needed to put my head on the sofa for five minutes always turned into going to bed at 7pm with the kids. Ooops. I haven’t got much done the first 12 weeks I must admit. But I am hoping that and the nausea are long gone. We have entered the second trimester! Hooray! Sometimes I check how I feel and it is interesting to know how my baby is growing. It’s easy to  check in the week by week pregnancy guide which you can find on the internet.

Bump is still growing at a rapid rate. I fear how big I will be third time around at this rate. Hoping bump slows down a bit for a few weeks. Clothes are getting tight and I have started making a maternity wish list. It won’t be long before my hair band on the jeans button trick doesn’t work anymore. Or worse it breaks and my pants fall down in public. I wouldn’t put it pass me.

I have noticed my hair and nails are growing faster and stronger. Thank you baby. My skin isn’t very nice at the moment, no thank you baby and hormones. I was a good girl and had my flu vaccination. Still suffering from that pesky cough but it’s getting better and less and less each day.

Have you heard of the Sneak Peak Early Gender scans? Well, we have done them with both of our little bundles of joy already. It’s a fun and quick way to find our the gender of your baby sooner than your 20 weeks scan. I am a planner and organizer so I need to have things moving like names, bedroom sorted, clothes, etc. Especially this time because if it’s a girl it’s sharing with MM or a boy it’s sharing with B just until our loft conversion gets built which could take a long time. If it’s a boy this means I need to switch B and MM’s bedrooms around as MM has the biggest room in the house. It also means I need to redecorate both rooms as they are painted fuchsia in one and navy in the other. It would be a whole lot easier if it’s a girl as I can hand down MM’s clothes too. Either way, we are so excited to find out and reveal to you all. Fingers crossed it’s a happy, healthy bouncing baby no matter what gender it is.

BABY IS THE SIZE OF A PEACH AT 8.6 CM AND WEIGHING 42 GRAMS. BABY’S KIDNEYS, LIVER, AND SPLEEN ARE DOING THEIR JOBS NOW TOO.

FUN FACT: BABY’S SUCKING ITS THUMB AND WIGGLING THOSE CUTE BABY TOES.

I HAVE FEEL SO MUCH BETTER THIS WEEK, LESS TIRED, MORE ENERGY AND NOT SO FRUMPY OR GRUMPY.

This week the number one question everyone is asking me: Are you finding out the sex?

People know me too well to know I am far too impatient to wait for 20 weeks when I can know right now. I could have even had it as early as 15 weeks which is Sunday for me but I have a packed diary to get there. So next Wednesday it is people! Keep watch.

CRAVINGS:

My baby has made me hate coffee, it still feels weird not to go into the kitchen half way through working day and make myself one. Not sure that will come back until baby is here. I am still lusting after spicy foods and beef. Mayonnaise craving has finally gone away. This week, I have ate normal and haven’t had the cravings I have been having lately. I don’t even want a snack or nibble at night which is rare for me especially when I am watching tv. This week though, I have gone off foods I normally like to eat like popcorn, humus, crackers and cheese, chickpeas, and chicken. All things I eat all the time and I just don’t want to stomach them. I hope this isn’t a glimpse at a picky eater coming my way.

What funny things did you crave when you were pregnant?

If you are pregnant now or just had a baby don’t forget I run a blog linky on Thursdays to link up all posts relating to pregnancy, bump, maternity, baby gear, products and baby milestones up to a year. I would love you to join our lovely group sharing our baby journey together. You can see last weeks here to give you an idea!
