Gotcha ya - April Fooled you! @robinsons_uk and @wimbledon have collaborated to launch their new Robinsons Blackcurrant Double Strength squash. We are testing it out in the next few weeks to see what the whole family thinks. Another day of Easter holidays in the sunshine today. Another long bike ride and this time we packed a picnic to enjoy too. Baby O was at nursery and I got all my work done this morning early so we could get out and have some adventures. There was ice cream and chocolate and a jump in the paddling pool to cool off when we got home too. Phew, I am exhausted but in a good way. Yup...it’s March and we got the paddling pool out. When in England if the sun is shining we flock to it like seagulls to fries on the beach. Whilst I wasn’t about to take a dip, it didn’t phase mine to dive into this freezing cold paddling pool today. We have soaked up the garden fun and pray it stays nice for the rest of Easter holidays. Now we just need some friends to come join us...sadly a lot of our holidays are opposite of our friends this time 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I hate that. Wish all school holidays were the same. The house is back to being full with giggles and loudness, toys and snacks all day. We enjoyed our lie in and no rush to get dressed for anything this morning. Whilst we had plans to go to Dubai and are bummed about losing yet another holiday we are going to enjoy it as best we can with things slightly opening next week. A friend in the garden sounds like Dubai compare to the year we have had doesn’t it? All about the small things right? What are you doing for Easter holidays? Coffee and biscuits anyone? I always need a little nibble with my afternoon latte. Anyone else? It’s probably a bad habit I started a year ago in lockdown and one I probably should break now but they just pair so nicely together. These gorgeous Easter cookies were made by my mom. She is the most talented person I know. I definitely didn’t get the crafty talents from her. Wish I did. Swipe and see the detail on these. Wowzers. Plus they taste amazing. Just when I think there is light coming at the end

Just when I think there is light coming at the end of a tunnel, they change the rules again. They keep giving us dates to slowly open up and we start wanting to plan things then we get knocked back down. It’s been one year today since our first lockdown. We are no nearer fear of this nightmare. And then today it’s announced they will fine people £5k if they travel abroad until end of June. Well there goes our little flame that started burning for holidays. It might keep us from going home and seeing my family if they extend that. I am desperate to go home and that’s really just thrown me tonight finding that news out. So I am trying to wrap my head around even what I will do to entertain the kids next two weeks of Easter holidays wondering will we ever be able to go on holiday again soon. Will I get back home anytime soon. It’s hard being an expat and feeling so helpless and far away from home at a time like this. One year ago tomorrow...the most scary, unknown, l

One year ago tomorrow...the most scary, unknown, life changing thing happens to us all. We were thrown into the deep end and each had a different way of staying afloat. One year later, everyone had a different story to tell, changed in various ways of thinking and (some of us even physically). There is new meanings to simple things like a walk, and a scoot. They no longer put a spark to the kids eyes because it became a daily routine just for fresh air. Life slowed down. So much was missed experiences and people and more. I am praying there really is light at the end if the tunnel and that we can use the rest of the year this year to make up for what has been taken away. I am hopeful. I have a new take on the important things in life as I am sure most do now. I reflect today that I may never forget that. That I won’t fall back into unimportant ways of living and rushing. That I will be more appreciative, be more grateful and more in the present moments with myself and my family and friends. Desperate to be on holiday building sandcastles? I know, us too! Best we could do is play in the sandbox at the park this weekend and dream of our next warm, sandy beach holiday. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that we can go home this summer like we normally do. I want to hug my mom and my extended family and all my friends. It makes being an expat so much harder when something so catastrophic happens and I am so far away closed off from my homeland. I definitely envy those that have been able to see their family through windows or on distance walks. I hope we can make up for it this summer with our sevens weeks back home. It makes you appreciate the small things so much like sand at the park, doesn’t it?
