Time blur, Working hard, and Parenting woes #littleloves

How can the weekend be here already? I can say that with the bank holiday Monday this week has flown by in a blur. To be honest, time lately is just one big blur. I don’t know what it is but days are just melting away. I am absolutely exhausted. I have been working everyday of the bank holiday weekend and nights when the kids go to bed. I am not complaining about having work on the go that’s always a good thing but I have also been changing things and working on my site, working on my house, the kids’ social calendars are out of control and we have had a few social events ourselves to attend to. I think I could literally sleep all weekend this weekend. Sadly, I am afraid it’s already packed so I best find the energy somewhere.

The bank holiday was going so well until we had a huge situation on our hands. It’s all part of the parenting woes of life I know but it has really shaken us. You might have caught wind of it on instagram and facebook as I mentioned what happened with B choking on a grape. Thank god, Daddy jumped in and gave him the Heimlich and saved his life. I can’t stop talking about it because even though so many have said, “oh, yeah you hear it all the time, cut grapes length wise”. Well, clearly someone hasn’t shouted it enough because I have never been told that and not for older children too. So I am here to say it even if it’s a reminder, or a new one for a new parent. You should always CUT GRAPES lengthwise in quarters not just half for all children even adults. Grapes are being produced bigger now and an adult can choke as easily as a child can on them. BE CAUTIOUS!

THIS WEEK I AM LOVING…

I am starting A Boy Made of Blocks this week. It was recommend by a lot of you #littleloves crew and a few other friends outside of blogging. My mother-in-law said it was a tear jerker. Eeek, grab the tissues. I have been lazy with my reading last week so I am back on it now. I miss those few 30 min reading sessions I was fitting in, here and there.

Sadly, my internet radio’s batteries die on me and I can’t find the cord so no music this week. The kids have been good back to routines and activities so no whining. I have heard nothing but a personal trainer shouting at me to stop resting, working hard, do more, keep the time, four more, get down, get up, do this, do that. I know that’s what I signed up for when I wanted a new program written for me but man, it’s tough as I get older. I used to be able to do so much more in the gym than I can now. Is this just me?

I was really hoping to have my Ireland vlog ready to share this week. Sadly, my memory is still shouting at me that it’s full and it won’t let me move things onto my external hard drive either. Grrr, technology sometimes can fail me at the most important moments.

However, I have been watching Netflix like mad again at night. For some reason, working late makes me stay up even later as I just need to unwind after typing, reading and studying. This means, I am at the end of Gilmore Girls. I have to say no one let it out of the bag that it gets a bit frustrating towards the end. I am not going to spoil it but I am not going to lie I am not happy with it right now. I am about to start Pretty Little Liars up too with a friend. I think I need to watch the last episode as so much happened before the break. Together, Mr P and I are back watching Season 6 of Suits. I love it.

When we were in Ireland I went into a boutique called Carraig Donn. I fell in love with everything. It’s all frills, lace, puffy sleeves, pastel colors and I swear it was like a peak at my own wardrobe in a whole shop. I found out they ship to the UK, I hear a shopping haul coming on. I got this lovely white floral flowing top from there among others.

We have been making the most of the warmer evenings and the kids have been begging me for a picnic every night. We recently got this lovely picnic basket and blanket in the sale ready for our new garden but we just couldn’t wait for the garden renovation to be done before we pulled it out. So this week we have been making A LOT of picnics. (Yes, you see grapes there this is pre-incident above).

It’s no secret instagram is my favorite social media channel. You can find me there at least every other hour. I love the engagement it has and the photography. It’s such a great community. I really like to get involved in the hashtag communities too. I just wish they would stop changing the algorithm on us all. This is the reason I started my own hashtag community. I wanted to have a place where people loved to come talk about photography on zoom whether it was babies, home interiors, food, fashion, travel, etc. It’s such a supportive community and my goal is to hit 100,000 tags  by Christmas…. we are just over 62,000 now. Do you think we can make it?

Why you bonder that…. check out these beautiful feeds and come say hello. Click the photo to be taken to the community and click the button below to follow me! Let’s get snapping #LIFECLOSEUP.

  1. Sorry you had that scare with B. I have to admit to getting a bit lazy with my 4 year old and giving her cherry tomatoes whole and occasionally small grapes. I’ll be back to cutting them now!

We love picnics even just in the garden. I’m off to check out your giveaway as I’m always jealous of Olympic pens.

  6. Poor B (and you and hubby), that must have been absolutely awful! Only reason I knew about cutting grapes was because Cass from Frugal Family had a photo go viral about it a few years back, I’d never have thought of it otherwise. Love that photo of you and your picnic hamper looks lovely all set out. Hope you have a lovely weekend x

  7. I was so sorry to read about your scare with B- it really did hit home, I’m so lazy at throwing fruit at the children when they arrive home from school- including grapes, and yep, I thought at 6 and 8 we were ok. Definitely not feeling that now.
I’m glad that life has found its pace again for you, I am so glad picnic season has arrived- and am loving your Carraig Don top- it’s gorgeous. I hope the week ahead has some earlier nights and time for reading.

    • I used to do the same for snack time pull out a thing of grapes let the kids eat them while I did dishes and laundry around them. I think about it now and I get the shakes it’s awful. I was told we should now be cutting up grapes even for adults. They are just not worth the risk and they are growing bigger and bigger every time. Thanks babes.

  8. That’s so scary! I’m really militant about grapes, and have already told my husband I’ll be cutting up my son’s grapes until he’s in high school haha. But I’ve heard so many horror stories about it. It probably needs to be a piece of advice in all those “X things I wish I’d known when I became a mum” blog posts! Anyway, yes, Gilmore Girls becomes a NIGHTMARE towards the end, to the point where I’m even refusing to watch the more recent Year In The Life episodes. Ugh. Adore that top though, so pretty!

    • I am thinking about writing one because even though people have been saying you always hear about it well I haven’t ever heard about it and thought at six he is fine. Clearly not! It was horrific and I wouldn’t want anyone to go through that either. Everyone should cut grapes up even adults could choke. They are far larger than ever before. it’s just not worth it.

  9. That must have given you all such a fright, thank goodness Daddy swept in and saved him. I did like the final episode of Gilmore Girls but I do think that last season was a slow watch. That picnic blanket is beautiful. #LivingArrows

    • Ahhh thanks so much. Oh yes it was the most awful experience ever. I won’t want to repeat ever but definitely want to put the word out there doesn’t matter if your child is 2 or 10 cut GRAPES up.

  10. Oh you’re just like me with the memory thing! I’m always clogging up my laptop and it’s always saying it’s full at the most crucial moment. Then I have to tediously go through everything that needs to be transferred to my hard drive. It’s a constant problem, lol 🙂

    • I don’t think I will ever have a good enough system or keep it organized enough to not get shouted at over the littlest video clips and memory problems so frustrating. We bloggers need endless memory does it not know this already?

  11. What a lovely post, it’s lovely to hear what you’ve been up to. I think I’m on exactly the same point as you with netflix – just finishing Gilmore Girls, I want to watch Pretty Little Liars and hubby and I are halfway through Season 6 of Suits! How funny is that!
