Valentine’s Day Home Decor

Last updated on March 4th, 2024 at 08:38 pm

Everyone thinks Valentine’s Day is all about the goodies, gifts, and dinners out but I think it can be enjoyed a lot longer than one day a year. Why not decorate your house for the month of L-O-V-E! Or style your mantelpiece for the special occasion. Either way, there are thousands of Valentine’s Day home decor ideas out there. I have come across a few I fell in love with and had to share.

Valentine’s Day Garlands

A garland is perfect for the mantelpiece or hanging on the hallway wall. Bring that little spice of craft and love into your home decor. It’s a bonus if you like to do crafty things too, because then you can make one yourself. Get the kids involved and make it one of your Valentine’s activities! I love a garland as part of my Valentine’s Day decorations because they don’t take up a lot of storage space when they’re not in use, and you can hang them in a different place every year – meaning it always looks fresh and new.

Be Mine Garland

Mantlepiece Decorations

This mantelpiece decor could be used from February right through the summer. It’s got Valentine’s Day, Spring, Mother’s Day and Summer feel to it all wrapped into one. I love that it adds a pop of colour, and it is so easy to find artificial flowers these days that you can use over and over again. Charity shops and carboot sales are a great place to look for those unique little vases as well.

Same goes for this stylish LOVE mantelpiece inspiration. I love the decor on this and style. It really could be a permanent style for your home. It’s very shabby chic. I love the vintage feel about it too. I have never been one for bold reds for Valentine’s day it’s more about the pinks and whites for me even when it comes to roses!!!

What’s not to love about these gorgeous Valentine’s Day home decor ideas here? I am crushing on these penguin cushions and initials. If you follow my blog you will know my slight obsession with food photography. How exciting would it be to have a personalized cheese board upon my counters? I know I would be excited, but might not be your thing. Either way, you have to admit how funny these Valentine’s Day pillows are for my side and your side! Brilliant idea!

Monochrome Valentines Decorations

Last but not least in the slightest, I leave you with this stunner, monochrome LOVE decor. I could have this in my house all year round. I think when we move my next house I want all black and white. Monochrome is very in and with a splash of any accent color you can pull it off in so many different ways. I love the gold here it makes it feel so romantic.

A black and white striped upholstered bench, with 3 cushions on it in black, white and gold. A monochrome print with "Love" written on it and a black heart hangs on the wall above the bench.

  1. Although I am single this year, I love the Love mantlepiece ideas as will work just as well for the love in the house between parents and children 🙂

    • Of course it would. No one says you have to be coupled to celebrate Valentines Day. My mother was a single mother when we were growing up and she used to get us treats and us her treats so don’t have to have a partner per say. Celebrating love is enough. 😉

  3. Absolutely love this feature, Jenny! Hard to choose, but the mantlepiece with the gorgeous pale pink roses has to be my favourite. I’m like you, I much prefer pink to the classic red rose. Really lovely ideas here, will have to whack a Valentines vignette together later now! (Which I will heartily enjoy!). By the way, I don’t get the #sharewithme tweet any more, hope I am not in the bad books? 🙂 I am always happy to be reminded and RT. Love Jess xxx

    • OH that is so sweet of you. I had a bunch complaining about the tweets so I stopped. But will tweet you for sure so grateful for your support. Thanks I love a good vignette can’t wait to see what you come up with. It’s such a great month to decorate for. I love the idea of changing a mantelpiece each month to find the season.

  4. I like the idea of decorating the home seasonally. Usually the only time of the year we make serious changes is at Christmas, but Easter seems to be creeping in a lot more nowadays and Hallowe’en too. x

  5. All of these are lovely, but the flowers & kisses mantelpiece is just gorgeous! It would definitely look nice at other times of the year too, and I can imagine it being a lot of fun to set up. If only I had the time (and a less destructive-sorry-interested child)!!

  6. The Flowers and kisses mantlepiece is absolutely delightful! My children would find a way to destroy it so I will have to save that idea until they leave for college. Well worth pinning!

  11. Love the mantelpiece decor. We don’t celebrate Valentine’s day anymore ,although the OH wasn’t keen on it in the first place. So there’s no way we’d decorate the house. But we’re a bit slack on decorating anyway in our house, let alone for anything seasonal.

  12. oo I love those Mantelpiece Initials! They could be kept up all year round too. I am hoping to do some love themed crafts with the kids over the half term and decorate the house a little that way 😀

    • That’s fantastic. I really need to do more crafts with the kids but think they are still just a little too young to comprehend glue and scissors not in their mouths. lol

  13. This all looks so lovely. Reminds me of when I was a teenager and my best friends mum used to decorate the house for valentines. She would offer love hearts to anyone who came to the door (much to my friend’s embarrassment at the time!) #sharewithme

    • Oh that is a brilliant idea. I love that. I may have to adopt that but I am sure my husband would be mortified and possibly the only person ever to come to my door is post office man. lol He might get the wrong idea. lol hahaha
