The leaves are falling all around us, the winter breeze is moving in, it is time for our winter coats and wellies! As winter approaches each year we prepare ourselves with new coats, hats, gloves and wellies without them we couldn’t continue our outdoor explorations and our park hopping weekends. If you are a reader here you will know we frequent our local parks quite a bit. There is something so comforting when we get all bundled up and slip on our wellies like a new adventure lies ahead of us just waiting for us to get there. Whether its splashing through the muddy puddles after a long Autumn pour down, or crunching through the fallen leaves in the big field behind us our wellies never let us down. We are a welly wearing family!

My kids associate fun and playtime with their wellies. There is never a time when I have to force them to put them on instead of their shoes, if nothing else they prefer to wear their wellies everywhere we go, even to church. We are a wellie wearing family and with that comes all our experiences, explorations, adventures together, times we cherish, new parks and old parks to return to time and time again. It’s the weekends in our wellies that I find the happiest, most magical moments to remember. We are laughing, we are playing outdoors, we are snuggled up and comfortable, we are together!

Our weekends at the park are always full of something different even if we go to the same park over and over again. There is always new paths to walk on, new swans or ducks to feed, more fields to run and kick the soccer ball around. We really are lucky to be so close to such beauty. We have a few parks near that we like to go to each weekend. It’s our weekend traditions to park hop and take in the beautiful changing of seasons.Joules Wellies Hunter Wellies Kids Wellies

There is nothing cuter than mini wellies. They really go straight to the heart with their cuteness. Missy Moo was oh-so excited to finally get her first pair and run amongst the fallen leaves with us all. It’s just a wellie you say, to us our wellies are not just a boot they represent our weekends of family fun together.

Last night after putting the kids to bed I looked over to see all our wellies lines up on the rug drying from our early morning park adventure. There were scratches on them, covered in mud, one was even tipped over, no doubt from Missy Moo but they brought a warm feeling inside me. This is what having a family is all about the little moments, the ordinary moments that put a smile on your face. The ones that make you so grateful for everything little things in your life!

  1. Aw how cute are all your wellies? I love your gorgeous stripy ones and the yellow Hunters of course- my Mads has a pair of those beauties! We love nothing more than popping our wellies on and going outside for an Autumn walk. I love Summer so much but there is something quite gorgeous about an Autumn walk in the cool air- bundling on coats, scarves and hats and then coming home for hot chocolate and snuggling under a blanket! x

    • Ahhh thanks Keri. I love wellies I live in them now with the kids. We put our big socks and coats on, slip them on and we are ready for any weather rain, snow, mud and all to have fun no matter what.

  3. We love our wellie’s too! There’s a saying I love – ‘there’s not such thing as inappropriate weather, just inappropriate clothing’ or something like that. Our British weather can really get us down, but with a pair of wells on there’s no stopping us! #ordinarymoments

    • Thanks Becky for stopping by and commenting. Do you ever use fleece socks or wellie socks? They really have helped my two kids’ wellies stay on. Fleece socks grib the sides better.

  5. This is such a heart warming post! I’d never been a wellie fan until the Bean came along, and now I completely get it. I think I was more excited than him when he got his first pair because I could just imagine how much he’d love splashing in the rain and puddles in them. And indeed he does – the first time he went out in them he chose a puddle so big he was wet up to his waist! Utterly priceless, and every time I see our wellies lined up I have to giggle. x
