Strawberry Bread Recipe

a sweet and delicious bread for celebrations

  • 2 cups self-raising flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3 small riped bananas, smashed
  • 2 eggs, whisked
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cup chopped strawberries
  • 1 1/2 cup strawberries quartered for topping
  • 1 tsp caster sugar


  1. BREAD:

    Preheat oven to 180C. 

  2. Grease and line the base of loaf pan with baking paper. Overhang 2 sides to pull bread out.

  3. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder in large bowl.

  4. Whisk the bananas, eggs, butter, and buttermilk in medium bowl.

  5. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredient in large bowl, combine. Fold in 1 cup of strawberries.

  6. Pour into greased loaf pan and bake for ONE HOUR or until skewer comes out clean.

  7. Let cool completely on wire rack.


  9. Use a tub of Betty Crocker's Cream Cheese frosting (plain).

  10. In small saucepan, cook 1/2 cup finely chopped strawberries with 1 tsp of caster sugar until it because like a sauce. 

  11. Let cool completely and whisk into the cream cheese frosting.

  12. Alternatively make homemade cream cheese or buttermilk frosting and fold in strawberry sauce. 

  13. Top with 1 1/2 cups of quartered strawberries, leave green stems for a pop of color.
