We are always striving to find healthy snacks for the kids to enjoy. More recently, we have geared toward a plant based lifestyle and moving our kids to snacks without all the “bad stuff”.

Teaming up with Ape and Mumsnet, we are testing Ape Puffs out. In a recent product test with Mumsnet users, out of 135 testers, 83% said they would recommend the Ape Puff range. So as you can imagine, we were really excited to try them!

The plant based Ape snacks provide a crunch booming with taste with nothing artificial or fried. Gluten free and Vegan friendly. They didn’t monkey around on the flavours either.

These two apes are here to tell the tale. From their favorite flavors to their favorite time to eat them. And even their opinion on how to eat them the right way.

Ape snacks come in three flavors:

  • Lightly Salted Puffs
  • Really Cheesy Puffs
  • Sweet Chilli Puffs

LIGHTLY SALTED PUFFS

B is a big fan of the Lightly Salted Puffs. I am a big fan that even though he has severe food allergies these are a healthy and safe snack for him.

He says, “I like the ball shape and they are fun to pop in my mouth when I am watching a movie. You should try them on a slice of bread too! My daddy eats them that way!”

Corky way to enjoy them but I have to say don’t knock it until you try it.

My first rule when I am looking for a good snack for the kids has always been looking at the ingredients. Once I have worked out if it’s safe for my eldest’s food allergies, I make sure I know and can pronounce each ingredient. If it’s something more complex than flour or oil or spice it’s probably not healthy. Living a more plant based lifestyle has helped us realize how much “bad stuff” is added to some foods and not others.

The Lightly Salted Puffs only have four ingredients: rice flour, coconut flour, sunflower oil, and sea salt.

REALLY CHEESY PUFFS

Up next is from MM, the cheese queen as we call her in our house. This girl loves all things cheese so you can guess her favorite flavor right away! She loves the Really Cheesy Puffs.

She says, “I love the cheesy ones because they are all covered in cheese. The best part is after you eat them my fingers are covered in cheese too. It’s like a snack after a snack licking my fingers.”

Well she has a good point. Who doesn’t love cheesy fingers?

It all sounds delicious to me!

Want to hear something exciting? Ape have also recently won the Mumsnet rated badge for the Really Cheesy flavour.

SWEET CHILLI PUFFS

Now it’s my turn to share even if I am not a kid …Sweet Chilli Puffs out beat them all in my opinion. I love anything with a sweet chilli taste and a good crunch.

I say, “these are great when the kids go to bed and I can sneak a pack of Ape out of their snack cupboard.”I asked what the kids thought overall of their new Ape snacks and they came up with an excellent plan.

“Try them individually and try them mixed all together in a big bowl to share with the whole family.”

I think that’s an excellent idea. Why not share the great taste and healthy treat.
