This year I am making it about me. Sounds selfish I know but after a very tough year last year and having a new baby, well it’s time I make a little more time for me. I also recently had a birthday, one that marked the end of my early thirties hitting the lovely age of 35 years old. It feels weird to be closer to 40 than I am 30 now. I am making this year about me by getting healthy, getting into shape, taking care of my skin, and splurging on new things for myself too.
I have kicked started 2019 with a new eating routine from my personal trainer that will see me eating twice as much as I ever have with twice the rewards. I have a new personal trainer as mentioned who has programmed me some awesome workouts to do throughout the week as I was bored of the same gym routines I was doing for so long in the past.
This just leaves me to make a better skincare plan and try some new makeup to make me feel girlie and pretty. I can’t even remember the last time I tried some new makeup out, never mind going full glam with beautiful nails, mascara, coverup – the full works. I have always been the type that might own just one bottle of perfume and one mini lip gloss somewhere in the house but can’t find them.
I have fallen head over heels in love with Charlotte Tilbury after one of my friends let me borrow her beauty kit on a night out. What’s not to love from the glittery eyeshadows to the matte lipstick colors?
So when I was asked if I wanted to test a few samples out, boy did I jump at the chance. Even more surprising when a gorgeously bowed box showed up a week later with these goodies inside. If you saw my ecstatic screaming on IG stories you would have thought I won the lottery.
I have red blotching skin and most recently having a baby gives me those dreaded black circles too. The Magic Wand does exactly what the name says, it magical covers those imperfections up. Adding a little highlighting, sculpting and powder on a night out gives my skin that glowing but lovely matte look. Or when I am on the beach or on holiday (I tested it out in Mexico) The Wonder Glow is the perfect grab and go cover up with a shimmer to it. It got me beach ready in seconds.
Next up it was time to dive into those Charlotte Tilbury glittery eyeshadows. If you know me or read my blog you will know I am attracted to anything that glitters, shines, or is embellished. I can’t help it, I like the pretty things in life.
Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadows are the perfect mix of day to night colors and combinations. I love these little four packs. The left one I used a lot for daytime as you can see it’s warn down already and the right I used for nights out for a darker, smoky eye look. Add the eyebrow pencil and mascara and I am ready to go out on the town.
I have sensitive skin so I was worried about trying a new brand of makeup on me but so far it’s been about a month and I haven’t had one problem. I find all the makeup and skincare smooth, not greasy and lasts all day.
I hardly wear lipstick and have never tried lip liner ever until now. In the past my makeup for a night out wasn’t much different from my day makeup except maybe my eyebrows colored in and eyeliner added. But I couldn’t believe the difference a little bit of Lip Cheat (it’s in the name people) and lipstick added to my face. Even the hubby who isn’t fond of lipstick liked it on me. Is it just me or does it feel like we need a bit of lippy as we get older for a pop of color? Chapstick on nice nude lips just doesn’t do the trick anymore.
So I have two little mini kits I have made out of my new makeup haul here. The one above is great for touch ups in my clutch on a night out. It’s got the essentials I need for day time and the added essentials to touch up my lips and face after all that dancing. Not that I get to go dancing every weekend like the good old days but it’s nice to have some really good makeup again when I do go out.
The little mix below is better for when I am traveling or on days out for work where it’s been a long day and you just want to keep your face refreshed with powder and lips touched up to steer away those “are you tired” comments.
I think they have made a new makeup hoarder out of me. I keep finding myself googling more things for my makeup bag. I also been watching all Charlotte Tilbury videos online how to use and do certain looks and styles with her makeup. I know most of you will have seen some of this on instagram over Christmas. It’s definitely as good as it looks.
Have you used Charlotte Tilbury before? What are your thoughts? Any favorite products or looks, comment below, I would love to know!

I’ve had my eye on Charlotte Tilbury makeup for ages now. I’m desperate to get my hands on the Magic Away concealer – my eyebags are crying out for it. I’m planning a little treat day when I next head to our local department stores so will be stopping by the Charlotte Tilbury counter to treat myself. Those glittery eyeshadows and pretty nude lips are calling my name! x
