Love the little things #42

Happy Friday Everyone!

It’s time to share the little bits I have loved this week with the lovely Butwhymummywhy and her beautiful gang of #littleloves What have you been loving this week? Come join us and have a beautiful weekend ahead!

Read

I have finally broken down and forced myself to start reading a book a week. Something that was on my New Year’s resolution list and I know a little late but better late than never. After finishing “Big Little Lies” which was fantastic I have now got the bug and have been scoping out for new reads each week. I bought this one for a little inspiration. “What I Know For Sure” by Oprah Winfrey, a lady I think is absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to get stuck in.

Watched

I have been so sick lately and the kids too it has meant a lot more tv watching has been going on then normal. I am getting hooked on all these shows and I don’t know how I will keep up when our normal lives resume. Just to list a few, The Leftovers, Forever, Scandal, Through the Keyhole, X-factor (I know I said it,shame) and starting next Wednesday my all time favorite show is back on, Grey’s Anatomy!

I broke down and have been letting Disney help me with the kids this week. Being sick is hard enough on top having two sick kiddies, don’t judge. We bought Bolt, Buba’s absolute new favorite movie, even beat Disney Cars I couldn’t believe it. Never thought anything would beat Cars. We bought Missy Moo the Toy Story box set. She loves it. So amongst our colds we have been snuggling in our pjs and my new fuzzy slippers this past week watching the tube more than we should.

Heard

James Morrison ft. Nelly Furtado
I needed some softer, calm music this week while I try to keep up with house cleaning, work, and the kids.

I also have been trying to work on my vlogging. I had to wait until I at least could talk five minutes without coughing or sniffing as that never sounds good in person and worse on video. The vlogging process has taken me a bit longer to get used to than I thought but it’s something I am passionate about and hoping to do a lot more of. What do you think of my video below

Wore

This week Missy Moo got the chance to test out these cute Ergonomically Designed Baby & Toddler ‘Sock-Shoes’. At first they are a little funky but they look so comfy and with our entire downstairs being hardwood floors and tile these are perfect to wear around the house so Missy Moo doesn’t slide all over the place in her tights. She was very impressed with them, sitting on her little step-seat and even asked for her coat to be on to complete her look. We will be taking them on a few adventures this week. I thought the big toe would make her feet too heavy but they have been brilliant for her to walk around in so far. And just to get you excited there may be a competition to WIN your very own pair too. Stay tuned!

Made

I finally pulled myself together enough to make us all these lovely Cheesy Bacon Twists for an after church snack. The kids loved them as much as we did. They are super easy to make, and what I love the most is that you can prepare a huge batch of them ahead of time and freeze them for a later date. Nothing is better when you get that last minute phone call of an unexpected visitor coming, throw a handful in the oven. Not only will you have an amazing treat to offer you will also fill your house full of rosemary and brown sugar aromas. Win-win!

And lastly…

It’s no secret I have been having a touch time lately. My bad luck streak has been in full force with getting our bank accounts, paypal accounts, and emails all hacked and hundreds stolen from us this past week. I vented a little on my facebook page and a lovely lady sent me this quote and the sweetest, uplifting message all the way from Australia. It just shows you there really are kind hearted, loving strangers in the world and social media really has brought us all together. She really made my day and I wanted to share it with you here.

Great quotes and sayings

I am a huge fan of social media, what blogger isn’t? One of the only ones I haven’t quite wrapped my head around is Pinterest and not in the sense I don’t know how it works, I do! I know a little too much and find myself lost in hours and hours of pinning, drooling, and wishful thinking I can do everything that I see. I said wishful, trust me most of the pins make me feel somewhat of a failure at times but there beauty continues to intrigue and pull me in. What I can’t wrap my head around is how people get a following. Maybe my pins are just borrowing or the endless pinning night annoy followers, I am not too sure. So I took time to sit down and really organize all my boards. I love sharing pretty things as much as the next. I thought I would share one of my boards instead of all and maybe you could give me some Pinterest advice on what I might be doing wrong, or what I could do more of to inspire people to follow!

Do I have too many or not enough boards and/or topics?

Are people more interested in a certain subject I don’t currently have?

Should I pin less or more in any given day?

Is Pinterest a more, I follow you, you follow me back type social media?

These are only a few of the many questions that are in head to figure out what I may be doing wrong! Be open and honest I am always up for constructive criticism. Comment below! Would love to hear your thoughts!

  1. Have just followed you on Pinterest chicky. I thought I was already actually! I’d love to know all the answers to your questions too – I’m definitely still finding my feet with it! I will say though that you have the most Pinterest worthy blog of any I’ve come across! 🙂 Oh Jenny, what a rough week you’ve had! I really hope you get everything sorted out, and that next week is a brighter one for you. Big hugs xxx

  2. Oh gosh Jenny what a hard week. I had my card copied when we were on holiday and hundreds taken too. Thankfully all was refunded as bank could justify I did not authorise it but it is so frustrating and so hard to understand how/why someone would do such a thing. Not having a card for four weeks was the pits. Hope it all works out quickly and you feel better soon x

  4. You have had a really crappy time recently, but hopefully the worst is over.

I love the James Morrison song, it reminds me of a really difficult patch that me and hubby went through not long before we got married and at the time the lyrics seemed to sum up everything I was feeling. Luckily we got throughout it all and hearing that song reminds me of how far we’ve come xxx

  7. I feel like I’m only now finding my feet with Pinterest. I definitely think it’s worth looking at what others do and taking inspiration from that.

I’m so sorry that you have had such a tough time recently. Sending you a big hug. I hope your banks are being supportive and helpful. My husband had his card cloned when we went to Disneyland Paris last year, we were almost stuck with no money all week but his bank were so helpful. Stressful time but I hope it is all sorted for you really soon xx

    • Thank you Lauren for your lovely words and encouragement. Things are hopefully looking brighter. Bank now sorted finally. So stressful. Bless you I can’t imagine being on holiday and that happening. Yes, I think I just need to dive into Pinterest like the rest of what I do and see if I can swim!

In spite of going through a rough time you still have a jam packed little loves list and that’s what I really love about you, you really see the positives – a lot of people could learn from that. xxxx
