Online shopping, shortlisted for the Bibs, and crap books #littleloves

It’s Friday! I rather think I should be jumping for joy and celebrating the weekend but sadly I just don’t care this week. I got the blues. It’s not really a weekend to me ever anyways. I still have my two crazy toddlers with me, making a mess and climbing all over me. I still have cooking, cleaning and house work to do. Weekends don’t really differ except the fact Mr P is around. While I am grateful for another set of hands lately I have been feeling blue. I blame hayfever but I can’t quite pin point my blues. I have never suffering from hayfever until now. It’s crippling. I think my lack of exercise hasn’t help. It just shows you that exercise really does boost your energy and feelings. I need to get back into it with my healthy eating too.

So I am focusing on the positives today and trying to look forward to a nice weekend with the kids. And pull myself out of this funk!

Read

I vouched this year I would get back to reading more “real” books. One of my favorite things to do is go to the bookstore and spend hours browsing the books for a good read. Unfortunately, I no longer get this pleasure of searching for the best book to read with two toddlers in tow. Lately, I have had to order my books online and whip them up while grocery shopping. Let’s just say my luck has been awful. So the other day I wanted to break this stream of crappy book buying. The last four books I have read have been just ok. Ok even some of them down right not my kind of book and I didn’t finish it. I have never not finished in book before. This week I braved the bookstore with my children, thinking if I buy them each a book they could entertain themselves while I browsed like the good old days. Oh, silly me!!! They both were fighting and screaming within minutes and changing their minds on their own choices every other second. This caused me to grab this book below from the recommended list and run for the tills. What a mistake! I read about 20 pages and the amount of f bombs, c words, and slang was atrocious.  It sounds like a good story line, a lady growing up rough and reinvented herself and going on to be very successful. I don’t know where I should just skip a few chapters or toughen up and finish it??? Verdict still out!

Heard

Have you heard? We have huge news here at Let’s Talk Mommy. No, I am not pregnant sorry. I am ever so excited, grateful, honored, shocked and amazed that I have been SHORTLISTED for the Bibs 2015 Video award. I never thought my videos ever were watched, let alone being recognized for them. I still can’t believe it. I am up against so many amazing established video bloggers too. What an honor! Just making it this far is a great feeling and I have to thank all my readers for voting for LTM. If you have a spare moment I would love your help once more in getting me to the finals.

I had the pleasure to interview the lovely Dear Beautiful for my April’s Bloggers Insight interview. She was so lovely to interview and really made me feel comfortable. It’s probably the first video I finally felt at ease in front of the camera. I guess that comes with practice and doing more interviews. Lucy is full of knowledge and so lovely of her to share it with all of us. Thank you Lucy!

Wore

As we approach our next holiday to Spain and prepare for our two months in America I have been scoping out the online shops as much as possible for great summer wear and clothes for our trips. It’s been forever since I had a big shopping spree for myself for summer. The last four summers I have either been pregnant, breastfeeding, pregnant again, and breastfeeding again and therefore my wardrobe hasn’t been the most stylish but more what was easy and comfortable. I got this dress below at Asos and I love a good bargain. I use fashion discount codes for my online shopping to get the best deal. If you are a huge online shopper like me, it’s worth it to always check out voucher sites for discount codes like Fashion Bean. It really has all the popular online retailers listed.

Made

This week we are eating a lot more salads and spinach and cutting out some carbs. Most of our dinners full packed full of carbs and sauces in jars. On our mission to eating cleaner and healthier we have been trying different things out. We love our beef tacos and though why not make it into a salad and cut the tortilla out. We added some radishes to give it a kick too. Here’s my Beef & Radish Summer Salad recipe.

  12. Jenny you look AMAZING in that dress! It’s gorgeous. Sorry you’re feeling down this week, I know what you mean though about the weekend being the same as the other 5 days of your week, it’s the same here. I got hay fever as an adult too! It’s really horrible and now I know what everyone else always complained about!

Hope you have a good weekend – make sure you sneak off for some time away from the kids and relax for a bit x

  15. It’s dire when you pick up a book and just don’t ‘get it’! I’ve had the opposite problem… I’m reading a fab book at the mo. (‘Elizabeth is Missing’ – I forget the author…) but I’m oh so busy with blogging and general life that I’ve been lucky to snatch 5 mins here and there… Perserverence I suppose!

    • Oh I never can put a good book down. It’s like candy to me. I will stay up all night just to finish it and then you know it was all worth it and a great read. That’s usually how I read and this one I just can’t get pulled into it.

Sorry you’ve not had much luck with books, I’d lend you some of mine but as I love Caitln Moran I fear we have very different taste in books!
