Buba’s 2nd Birthday! {Flashback}

Last updated on November 16th, 2023 at 05:17 pm

It’s time for another flashback.

Since I only started blogging after Missy Moo was born, there are so many special moments and big milestones that I never had the chance to document here. Buba’s first two years of his life were full of fun adventures, many firsts, and great milestones that I am now trying to flashback to and record before I forget them.

Here I share with you Buba’s 2nd Birthday which came only weeks after Missy Moo’s arrival.

Unlike Buba’s 1st birthday, we held his party at the local community center. My mommy group of friends was growing at a rapid speed and hyper two year olds need room to run around and play! We hired our favorite teacher from Kindermusik, Harriet Gore, for child entertainment. She is highly recommended and great with the kids.

I chose the Disney Cars theme, trying to pick a theme that was easy to decorate for and boyish. Buba started really liking hot wheels so I thought it would be perfect for him. Little did I know this would start a whole new obsession with Disney Cars that I wouldn’t be prepared for. He had never even seen the movies up until this point. From this day forward and still, he has not stopping begging for Disney Cars memorabilia and watching those movies. If only I would have known! lol 061RS

Since Buba has extreme allergies to nuts and eggs, I found a lovely lady to make eggless cupcakes for his special day. Every birthday boy deserves cake on his birthday! At first I think the sweetness was intoxicating but as he got half way through his cupcake he soon grew tired of the over powering sweet taste and pushed it away. He has only ever had something sweet once before so his tastebuds weren’t accustom to it like most kids. Nothing like watching a child spit out cake on his birthday! 059RS

We kept it small, and invited the mommy group that I was so lucky to become a part of and a few friends that have had babies alongside Missy Moo. It was great to not have to worry about my house being completely destroyed from a bunch of sugar high toddlers. My best friend and her family all came too, which meant a lot with Paul’s family in Ireland and mine in the states these milestones are never the same without family.Bubas2ndbdayRS

I remember sitting back and looking over the room at all our friends feeling so happy that I have found such amazing people to be a part of our lives. It was only 2 years before this that I didn’t have many other friends with small babies when I first gave birth. I felt sheltered and a little lonely at first. Mr P had to work and my days were filled with just Buba and I. After meeting the BBB mommies and my best friend next door, things really changed for us all.

I am so glad that I am a very organized person and had Buba’s birthday all planned out and ready before I gave birth to Missy Moo. I knew with my due date was only the week before his 2nd birthday I wouldn’t have time to do anything else for it but show up. Lucky me, Missy Moo must have known it would be pushing for time and came three weeks early, giving Mommy some time to recuperate and prepare for the party. Here she is above, still all scrunched up, next to a good friend of mine, J, who only had her lovely son a few months before me.P1000785RS

I think Missy Moo enjoyed the party as much as her big brother. Luckily for Buba there were plenty of people there to spread the attention between the birthday boy and his new baby sister. Not that he minded sharing the limelight, he hadn’t really noticed her yet.

Check out this video I made from his birthday party. Brings back such great memories, life truly does pass us by!

    • Thank you Denise, we had a great time. It was a little hard with a newborn but in the end I am so glad we got everything ready before she arrived and could enjoy the day with lots of friends around us.

  1. Looks like you had a fab time. We did something similar for O’s second birthday and it was lovely. Lots of space for the toddlers to run around and a bouncy castle for the older ones.
It had been a bit of a stress getting everything ready but we had such a lovely day.
    Gorgeous photos xx

    • Thanks hun. I know what you mean. I was running around trying to decorate as people were showing up. Stressful indeed. Lucky we had the park outside so they all were playing on the climb frames and swings too! It was a great day to remember. Just trying to catch up on all my milestone moments with Buba on here so I have both him and Missy Moo documented before I forget. 😉

    • I had to be very organized. I couldn’t imagine trying to make invites and organize a party right after giving birth. I didn’t know what kind of birth I would have and how much time I would actually have between her due date and his bday. I could have easily gone a week over and still been pregnant. lol That would have been hard. It all worked out so perfectly.

  2. Aww, it’s so lovely to look back and remember these special milestones, isn’t it? And community centres are definitely the way to go – we have done a few at home parties and, my goodness, it’s a lot of work! Gorgeous pictures and memories shared Jenny xx

    • Thank you so much. We did a home party for his 1st birthday, it took me weeks to clean up and find things broken or out of place. I decided never again. lol Community centers are cheap too. Bonus!!! Ours is right next door to our house so we can walk which is so handy and next to a park. We all ended up after the party playing on the swings and climbing frames. It was a perfect day to remember. Trying to document Buba’s first two years before I forget. I only wish I was blogging back then too.

    • Thank you Helen, I really wanted to start writing flashbacks as a way to record Buba’s first two years when I wasn’t blogging. I would do anything to go back and have been blogging throughout all of it. I didn’t want him growing up and asking why all MM milestones were documenting but not his. It’s never too late I supposed especially before I forget the little details.

    • Haha Cars is a great hit among the boys lately. I feel like they are super advertising it now too on the tv. Every time I turn around they have a new toy or new version of the die casts. Buba is forever screaming Mommy look cars!!!! Lighting McQueen is all I hear. lol Glad I am not the only one.

    • Hahah Thats is hilarious. Yes never a dull moment with Buba. He favorite thing is broccoli. You think it’s a good idea but really that much vegetables is never good for diapers. lol

    • Thanks Caroline. I didn’t used to. It was only through kids that I now have friends in the uk for the most part. I had very little before and none as close as I am now with these. It’s amazing how children can fill your heart and life but also bring you others into your life that are amazing. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    • Thanks Katrina. I bet you are better than you give yourself credit for. I am probably a little on ocd perfectionist side ok a lot so it does help in the organized categories. Not for my own sanity but others. 😉 It gets the job done.

  6. It seems to have been such a lovely party and the invites are fab. Well done for finding someone who could make eggless cupcakes. Trying to make decent cakes with no eggs, flour, dairy or nuts is my next challenge for myself! x Mel

    • I have a recipe I am going to be sharing that’s egg and nut free for cupcakes and it really does taste so yummy. Not sure about flour and dairy that is very hard. You can find alternatives I think online. I will have a look. Thanks the invites were awesome I just picked a picture I liked, added text, and cute out a whole for Buba’s face and then printed them at Asda like a picture so cheap.

    • Thanks Tracey. Sorry to hear they have allergies, it’s so hard to deal with especially at parties. I am going to be sharing a similar egg free cupcake recipe next week. Stay tuned.

  8. What a lovely idea – to share photos and stories of a time in the past. One of my biggest regrets is that I didn’t start my blog when my children were younger (only started it 2 years ago) but this has given me some ideas. What a wonderful birthday he had and how you did it all after just giving birth, I will never know. You looked amazing!

    • Thank you so much. I love flashbacks. It gives me a way to document those special moments of Bubas before I became a blogger. I was very busy with literally just having a baby and a birthday party to cope with. Ahhhh wouldn’t recommend.
