Buba’s Room Tour

BubasRoomTourWelcome to Buba’s oasis!

Buba’s nursery wasn’t much different when he was a baby, minus the bright green wall. I kept it cool and neutral with the navy stripes and the rest was white, even the furniture. So I decided while I was doing Missy Moo’s nursery, I would add this green to give it a more grown up boy look to it, even though he still is my baby!

The gorgeous bunting was made from extra curtain material from his nursery curtains. My clever and talented mother made them for his room. I love the navy against the green. His baby bedding was all sailboats so the theme is still semi there. Don’t want him growing up too fast.

IMG_5376I got all Buba’s furniture from Ikea. It’s good price and quality. His cot bed turns into a mini single bed, that I have yet to take the sides down. I know, I know it is time but we are potty training and Buba doesn’t do well with change, one thing at a time.

The wallpaper on the far wall is Ralph Lauren from John Lewis that Mr. P. won from a golf tournament. I never thought his golfing days would benefit me! lol

IMG_5364Buba’s cloud bedding just came last week from Modern Baby, in anticipation of his new big boy bed. He is loving, having a pillow and big boy blanket now but he still asks for his sleeping bag too. So he has them both, bless him. I thought the grey would go great with the navy and green.

Let’s not forget his new favorite corby tinderstick either. It’s a cute plush toy I got him from Modern Baby as well. He loves to snuggle it while he sleeps.

The roman blinds are fabric from Laura Ashley, we used to get a family discount, which I miss. My talented mother again made these gorgeous navy curtains. Buba’s window is a nightmare to dress. It’s three separate windows in a bay window shape, all three a different size. I was really pleased with the outcome as these, they completely block out the light, the roman blinds left the room just as bright as it does open.

I have  a mini obsession with light fixtures. If I could change them in each room, monthly, I would. I am always seeing another one in shop and wanting to buy it. I need more rooms to light. This white one is from Laura Ashley. It was perfect for a nursery but now I want to upgrade it to a big boy light. I just haven’t found the right one. Then I think it might find a home in Missy Moo’s room.IMG_5380IMG_5345Buba’s bay window was great for a nursery as his rocking chair and side table were there. Now, it acts as his reading nook slash craft play area. My mother and I both made these matching pillows out of extra fabric from the curtains and extra sheet from his bed to match the green wall. It was one of my first sewing lessons from her.

I love this table too because we can bring it downstairs, to the dining room when Buba has friends over for lunch! They both can sit together at their own mini table. I can’t wait till Missy Moo is old enough and the two of them can eat together on it. Good thing it matches the dining room decor!!!

I already have ideas for this space when it does move downstairs permanently. I have my eye on a Ferm Living tent from Modern Baby or a similar reading tent.

IMG_5367I absolutely love these shelves, they are spice racks from Ikea. I painted them navy and green to tie in with the rest of the room. The dark colors really pop off the white wall.  They turned out better than I thought and at £3 each, you can’t beat that. They are very sturdy too, they withstand Buba pulling books from them daily. I also painted wooden letters that spell his name out on the other side, to match.

IMG_5381We hadn’t long moved into our new house when Buba was born. I think we got our keys exactly four weeks before I gave birth. NOT recommend! It has taken me two and half years to decorate each room how I want, and as I slowly finish off each room, I will be sharing my decorating with all of you.

I hope you have enjoyed Buba’s room tour!

Stay tuned for more of ‘our home decor’!

  1. What a gorgeous room for your little boy!

Funnily enough, I’ve just been researching kiddie tables as I want one for our conservatory now it’s getting a bit warmer. Yours is lovely, where did you get it from? (If you don’t mind me asking!)

    • Thank you. It was hard to decide what I wanted to do for each of them but I wanted a theme that would grow with them not have to be changed from baby to toddler to little boy to teenager. I think I can work with this until he is out of the house!!! lol Give or take a few ideas and accents.

    • Thank you so much Louisa, that’s exactly what I was going for. I really wanted a room where I didn’t have to change a lot as he grew older. So when he was a baby I did sailboats and just the navy and white stripes. Then as he turned 2 I painted the dark green on one wall. As he continues to grow I can take the baby accents like bunting out and replace with older kids stuff. I love that is grow with him without having to completely redecorate each time.

  2. Lovely room! Sadly, with two boys sharing in our house, their room will never ever look as tidy or calm as this… I have hopes for the wee girls room 🙂 Love the spice rack shelves, might have to steal that idea!

    • Thank you. Best spice racks ever. Super cheap, can paint them whatever color or leave them light oak and line them across the wall to make wider shelves or up and down like mine. Steal away my dear! Oh don’t worry when Buba gets older and is playing in his room I bet it will be a mess. Stay tuned for Missy Moo’s room tour next week!

    • I know I saw, I was just commenting on them I think last night or the night before. They look amazing. I am doing a room tour of every room in my house each week. I am totally obsessed with home and interior design. If I could decorate other’s homes for a living I would or afford to redecorate mine every six months. lol Missy Moo’s room tour will be next week and then Momma’s room. I love shopping for home decor. I would choose to buy home accents then clothes any day. I know crazy. lol I love just the one wall being so loud and everything else is white or cream. I did this throughout my entire house. So colors are popping everywhere. Not everyone’s cup of tea but I love it. 😉
