A Summer Outfit for a Cooler Day

Last updated on June 22nd, 2017 at 12:54 pm

It’s not unknown here in the UK to have those cooler summer days. In fact, we probably have more of those than the blistering sun days come summer time. I have always loved the combination of jeans with sandals. I love my toes out in the fresh air. If winter would allow it, I would wear sandals all year long. I thought I would share with you my summer outfit style for a cool day.

Fashion has always been a lust of mine since I was old enough to pour over the fashion magazines as a teenager. While I have always been drawn to pastels, laces, and sequins, each year I do try to embrace what style has become the new “it” look. So many have quickly became wardrobe staples and so many have quickly ended up in the back of my wardrobe. I am not new to sharing my outfits on my blog space here but it’s something I am trying to do more with more self confidence and comfort in front of the camera.

This year’s off the shoulder trend was something I was excited about but not sure if it would be a look I would take to. I got this gorgeous blue flamingo top from Primark. I thought I would ease into the style. I adore the look the off the shoulder tops give but they don’t stay my shoulder very easily which can be annoying. But sometimes it’s worth the frustration for a fashion statement.

It was a cool day but the sun was still out with a light breeze. I paired my off the shoulder flamingo top with vibrant blue jeans that I got from Debenhams. They are in the ankle grazers section but for someone short like me I rolled them up to get a better ankle grazing look otherwise they are just normal skinny jeans on me. These are so soft and light perfect for a cool summer day.

Let’s have a moment to lust over these Island Sandals from Hotter. The floral detail with the brown strap makes them not only so trendy but they are the most comfortable sandals ever too. I had never heard of Hotter before being American but after being invited to one of their lovely events to be introduced to the brand, I left highly impressed with their new sandal range and with a wish-list a mile long. So I didn’t have the preconception that everyone else has about them being footwear for your mom or grandma even. At first glance you might even think of those don’t look very trendy as you see the comfortable padded soles….silly you! Put them on your feet. I was the same I walked in not knowing what I would see in the sandal range at the event and a few stuck out to me. But then the shop was closed just for our viewing and we tried on every pair, I swear in the shop. I liked SO many after they were on my feet. You can see at the bottom of this post the four pairs I really couldn’t decide over before I went with these floral ones. Footwear isn’t how gorgeous it looks and feels off your feet, it’s how gorgeous they look and feel on your feet. So many suited other ladies there better than my feet and some looked better with my skin tones and shape better than others. We need to care for our feet better too by wearing more comfortable shoes. Comfortable doesn’t mean ugly like it did ten years ago. There doesn’t have to be a price to pay for beauty anymore. I thought since I was trying out new styles with my off the shoulder top and ankle grazer jeans why not try a new style on the toes as well. I haven’t ever worn flat slip-on style sandals but I have really been missing out. Hotter are jumping in with the trends in their designs but keeping that same great comfort appeal that they are known for. Most of their sandals are adjustable, padded and quality to last.

I met a friend for a lovely walk around Trentham Gardens last week and took in the gorgeous wisteria with a walk around the beautiful grounds. I have to say my new sandals did not disappoint. I can’t wait to take them to America and get my use out of them as we are always walking so much outdoors in the warmer weather there. The floral detail is sure to match all my wardrobe. Who doesn’t love pink floral sandals for summer?

It’s rolling on summer time even if we get some cooler days in between our warmer days nothing says summer more than an over large sunhat. Don’t you think? It keeps the sun off my face as much as the wind leaving me with a stylish ensemble. I have always had this thing for buying hats and than never wearing them because I feel silly or think they don’t suit my little face but I just love this sunhat too much to not share it and wear it proudly.

Anything that makes me dream of summer days on the beach and gives an outfit a little fun is a good accessory to me. Along with my “to the beach” hat from Next, I paired it with my pastel pink shades from Primark for the ultimate summer look on a cool day.

This post couldn’t happen without the beautiful photographer Kerri-Ann. She is so amazing helping me share more fashion posts and also on my journey to loving me and being confident in front of the camera and with myself. She took some amazing snaps on our day out together here. Thank you lovely.

I was given these Hotter Sandals for the purpose of this post but all opinions are my own. I was also sent this gorgeous sun hat from Next. I purchased the top, jeans, and shades myself. The gorgeous brown shoulder bag was borrowed from the lovely Kerri-Ann above.

  1. You look gorgeous Jenny, I absolutely love the whole outfit. I really need to get to Primark without the boys and have a good look around as there’s been so many lovely shirts and tops I’ve seen. This outfit is really beautiful and suits you so well xx

  2. I’ve always loved the way you dress Jenny – I live in jeans and black and it’s so refreshing to see you in pretty pastels and vibrant colours. I wish I was braver and could do that too. I like the off-the-shoulder trend too but I reeeeeally don’t get on with strapless bras – how do you get around that as it’s a look I’d love to try out?!
You look beautiful in all these photos – that last one of you and Kerri-Ann together is my favourite 🙂

    • I either tape the girls down or I actually wear strapless swimsuit tops more often than strapless bras as normally they hate me too. But I did find an amazing one at primark of all places which I was wearing here. Thanks you are so sweet. Oh no embrace the florals, and colors. I hardly own anything black.
