I love when the temperatures start dropping and the leaves start changing. It not only signals Autumn is here but it means the holiday season is just around the corner. There is SO much to celebrate between Sept – Jan for us as a family, especially this year. We have a Wedding, a Christening, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Xmas parties, an annual Ball, fashion show, New Year’s party on top of mine and Mr P’s birthday celebrations. To say, I need a new wardrobe around this time of year is an understatement. I like to find a new outfit each year that I can wear to numerous of these occasions.
This year it’s all about embellished dresses and faux fur coats for me. I love the sparkle and dazzle in my dresses. I have never really been a plain black kind of girl. The brighter the better for me in terms of detail. I also love the coziness and warmth of a faux fur coat on top of my dresses. I think they pair lovely together and keep you warm on those freezing winter nights out. I scoped out this ensemble from River Island and fell in love with it immediately.
They are both staple items to have in your wardrobe for the holiday seasons. You should have a black and a lighter cream or grey faux fur in your wardrobe capsule. Everyone needs a few party dresses in there as well. Go bold colors and lots of embellishments.
Lucky for me, the events above are different groups of friends. While social media may be the only one knowing I am recycling an outfit over and over, I love that I am getting the chance to wear it more than a few times over the next few months.
This River Island pink embellished dress is a new favorite of mine. I love the rose gold color of it. The lace and beads with tassels hanging down give it a 50’s flapper girl flare. The neckline is one of my favorite styles on me, showing off my shoulders. It is so comfortable which is not often said about a tight dress but it hangs in all the right places for me so soon after having a baby.
I also got this faux fur cream jacket from River Island. It was the perfect contrast to my dress as thought a black one would be just too opposite. It’s the warmest and softest coat I have ever owned. Made me want to curl up and go to sleep after dancing on the dance floor at my friend’s wedding in a food coma. What a night we had!
I accessorized my outfit with a clutch from Dune, a triple bracelet from Maurices (in the states) and my go to pewter Jimmy Choos. It’s been such a long while that I got the chance to dress up and feel pretty. Getting back into shape and losing my baby weight has been a challenge but one I am taking on slowly and healthily. I am starting to feel like my body is mine again. It’s time to celebrate some more over the coming month. I daresay you will see this outfit a few more times before we hit New Years!
