Me & Mine {May}

We have seen the month of May fly by, faster than any other month for us as a family of four. I don’t think there has been a day that hasn’t been jammed packed with adventures, new milestones, and ongoings. Life as a family four, definitely keeps us on our toes.
We have been blessed with good weather lately, and we are always quick to take full advantage of it when we can. You never know when you will see it again, here in the UK.
Hiking has become a new family favorite passtime although I am sure Buba would disagree about all the dogs that kept appearing while we hiked. Even in the photo above he refused to look at the camera and kept his eyes on the two dogs below us while the dog owner took this photo for us.
I am constantly having to ask strangers to capture our family together, if I didn’t I would never have family photos. Unfortunately Missy Moo is hiding behind Daddy, a little too far. But if I step up a tripod and attempted to do it myself, I know all too well my family wouldn’t co-operate. It’s hard enough to quickly grab a stranger, tell the kids look who has Mommy’s camera, beg Mr P to smile and hope for the best within that 3o second window of the stranger pushing the button and handing the camera back.
It was a beautiful day being completely surrounded  by greenery, birds chirping, and creeks trickling. We are so blessed to live near such a stunning place and I am going to make a point to visit more often. It’s a photographer’s paradise and so many things for me to practice my photography on. It makes for a great family day out too, with a little cottage to eat and drink at too. We enjoyed a lovely lunch.

After pleading with Mr P just one more photo, I begged another stranger for a last attempt to get the four of us together.
The month of May has seen our back yard being landscaped by yours truly, extreme planning of Missy Moo’s 1st birthday and christening party, numerous craft projects, recipes, and milestones galore from both kids. Life really does go so fast, and the kids really do grow up at record speed. My Momma wasn’t kidding when she told me it would only go faster and faster the older I got. But even in the busy months like May, I try to stop, taken it all in, and remember ordinary moments like taking a hike with my beautiful family, whom I am ever so grateful for.
I love you family!!!!

  1. Well I think all your persuasion has definitely paid off; they look like a lovely record of a day in the most beautiful surroundings. And I had to laugh at Buba giving the dogs the stink eye – my Kitty does just the same!!

    • Yes he wouldn’t take his eyes on the dogs and look at the camera so worried, as you can see on his face. Thanks hun, not sure they worked but at least I have something to look back on a memory of them not participating.

  2. We had to rely on someone else this month, as I know that mine won’t go along with the tripod either and I feel really weird taking it out!

    • Me too, I tried once, the Mr rolled his eyes and wasn’t happy as he felt weird too then Buba just wanted to run and knock it over and point saying what’s this mommy. Missy Moo didn’t understand too look at a camera not a person. It was not a great time. Most of mine will have to be other people.

    • Oh gosh, I think I just ordered 15 more headbands from my friend. She makes them for me so it cost me next to nothing for them all! Thank you. Just hope she keeps her gorgeous christening one on today for the party!

  3. Oh I love these photos Jenny, I love how you and Missy Moo are looking at one another in the first, and you all look so happy together in the second. It’s so tough trusting your shot to a stranger I think, but worth it for lovely memories like these. x

    • Oh most of ours are like that. I don’t think I have one where all four of us are smiling and looking at the camera. Impossible I say!!! But then you are right, its’ more real that way. lol

    • Thanks Katie, we do a lot of hiking so you will see a lot of it as our ordinary moments over the summer. lol It’s always a great place to take photos too but Mr P wanted the camera put away so I didn’t get many. Boo.

  5. Lovely family shots. We don’t have any photos of the 3 of us, the OH just won’t have his photo taken, but if we ever go on holiday, I’m going to do the same as you and ask a stranger

  6. we hardly ever use the tripod, and my husband would not trust his camera in the hands of a stranger! we often rest the camera somewhere on some steps a ledge, then set the camera to take pictures every 10 seconds and smile and laugh and try to get the two little ones to smile whilst hoping we managed a decent shot! time does fly by I think more so in the warmer months!

    • Thats a great idea. I will have to try that. Mr P isn’t always keen to smile and participate like the children. lol So it’s difficult. Thanks for the tips my lovely.

  8. Lovely that you can take the children with you and enjoy the outdoors together like this as a family. You look well equipped with the backpack too. Hope you will add this one to Country Kids with me too.

    • Oh yes, thank you so much for reminding me. I had wrote it down to link up but forgot. Yes we love the back pack but makes it hard for photos. hahaha

  9. Ahh the last one is perfect and definitely worth another ask. We often do a tripod type job and take quite a few but its very hard to get the boys looking at the camera.
Hoping June is a little more chilled out for you but tbf i’m not sure it will be! ;)) xx

    • Nope June is even more busy as we prepare to go to America for two months, Chester races, two birthday bashes to attend, the BritMums in London as you know so it’s going to be another crazy month. Hoping July is slow on my vacation at home! lol hahaha

  10. Lovely to get some family photos! we have so few with the five of us in them. That does look like a beautiful place, I can see you taking full advantage on any sunny days, although it can’t be too long now till you head to the US for your big trip…
