Ingredients for pumpkin hummus laid out. This includes pumpkins, chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, paprika, cumin and pumpkin seeds.

This Pumpkin Hummus recipe is divine!! It’s the next best thing to original hummus on your sandwich or dipping those crudités and pita bread in!

Homemade hummus so easy and quick to make. Doesn’t cost a fortune to make either and no fancy gadgets needed. Just grab your kids to do the messy work letting them gut out the pumpkins. It’s a team effort and save those seeds for roasting too. Yum!

It’s the perfect recipe for Fall time to celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving and even make it for Christmas (just top with pomegranate seeds to make it festive). Either way, pumpkin hummus is a sure win in our house with the whole family.

What Do You Serve With Pumpkin Hummus?

We love dipping our veggies in it as much as toasted pita breads and even on plain toast. My ultimate favorite way to eat it is on a sandwich though. Forget the mayo and the butter, pumpkin hummus gives your sandwich flavor, color, and life. It is really the same as any other hummus, and you can eat it any way you’d like.

We like to have as little waste as we can in this family. If you can carve the pumpkins out for Halloween, use the flesh for Pumpkin recipes and roast the seeds for a snack or toppings then there is no waste to be had by Halloween pumpkins. Save the world, one recipe at a time!

Can I Make Hummus Without Tahini?

Tahini is available in most supermarkets, but if you’re struggling to find it then it is possible to make hummus without tahini. In hummus, tahini adds a smoothness and depth of flavour. You could choose to just eliminate it completely and see how you like the consistency and flavour of the hummus. If you feel like it is missing something then try adding almond of cashew butter. They have a similar consistency to tahini which will in turn change the consistence of the hummus, but their neutral flavouring will not affect the flavour of your homemade hummus.

How Far In Advance Can You Make Hummus?

Most of us don’t want to be trying to whip up a batch of homemade pumpkin hummus right before friends come over. You can make hummus up to 1 week in advance and store it in an airtight container in the fridge. This is perfect for when you make a big batch as you can just spoon out as much as you need at one time and leave the rest for later. Just place it in a bowl as your guests come in and add your garnishes for an impressive looking snack.

How Do I Garnish Pumpkin Hummus?

While taste is of course really important, there is something really impressive looking about a beautiful dish of homemade hummus ready for guests. Good garnishing makes all the difference to how a dish looks and are sure yo get their mouth watering. For my homemade pumpkin hummus I like to top with chilli oil, pumpkin seeds, nigella seeds, and some smoked paprika and you’re ready to serve.
