It’s been awhile since I updated the living room. It’s gone from gold and black (yes, the girl who loves grey since she was a teenager, had black and gold, it’s still a mystery to us all) to colors bursting out of cushions and living room accessories to finally being something I love. As always with all my rooms in my house, I never feel like they are fully finished. If I waited until I was happy with them, completely before sharing with you, odds are I would have redecorated it again before then.

I went for this inspired pale pink gallery wall set. It matches my new living room perfectly. It’s not too pink in your face so hubby didn’t disapprove and I love the style of larger frames in the middle and a few typography through in around the floral ones. For this look, I chose these prints below and had them framed in silver frames instead of the gold from the inspiration wall because silver matched my new decor better.

WHAT ELSE IS NEW IN OUR LIVING ROOM?

Now that the wall was perfect, I needed to style some shelves. We just had a tv entertainment unit built into our living as it was a funny rectangle shape. We never felt like the tv was in the right place and the flow of the furniture always seemed not right. The new tv unit is so large, we now have extra storage for all our books, family games, and personal photo albums that we can no longer keep in the loft. (now that renovations are starting on that). We are so pleased with how it transformed the room.

To style the shelves, I went to a few of my favorite shops and picked up some new home accessories. Items are from Zara Home, West Elm, Cox and Cox, Homesense and Amazon UK. I thought of shelves in terms of various heights and coordinating but not matching photo frames too. What’s your favorite home accessories shop?

With the new grey glitter carpet installed, it finished off the look. Yes, our carpet has actually silver glitter sparkling from under our feet. Who would have thought? It was actually an accidental order but I love it and it’s so much softer than the old one we had. We bedazzled our living room floor for sure. It’s a matter of fighting for the floor instead of the one sofa to watch movies at night now.

STILL TO COME FOR OUR LIVING ROOM…

Our white shutters for the bay window will hopefully be here in a few weeks to complete the look of our living room. As the curtains were never big enough to actually close all the way and we feel weird watching tv and people walking by the front window looking in. I think bay windows just look nicer with shutters too. I can’t wait.

There is the matter of our footstool being cream and far too small for the room. Once we get a large, square one I think the flow of the room will be perfect. It’s all about the feng shui!! But it’s quickly becoming my new favorite room in the house.
