My little fake twins is what you are referred to, by numerous people, not just me anymore. Every milestone taken near the same age, the same way, little personality traits happening the same time, and now in school you seem to follow each other’s footsteps every step of the way. In SO many ways you are exactly alike and in some ways you are different. I love how much you are similar, it does make my job a little easier the way you both want the same things, and to do the same things, its a parents best dream. Less for me to sort out and try to do with two wanting to do separate things, I can’t really split myself in two. It’s easy for me to boast about your relationship as siblings so close in age. The school have commented a lot lately how you go to each other every chance you get during school time whether it’s playtime outside, snack time together, or if you are allowed in the assembly hall. I like knowing that you both have each other’s backs in school and out of school. I like knowing you watch over each other and excited to see one another throughout the day. I remember my own brother pretending he didn’t know me in school at one point so it’s a pleasure. I hope it long continues. I am fully aware this sibling team will have their moment in the future of normal sibling rivalry. But for now I love joining in The Siblings Project with Dear Beautiful and the rest of the cohosts, to celebrate a time where my kids just are inseparable and I don’t have to exaggerate it either.

This month, the kids have been very interested in the weather. They have been concerned how much darker it’s getting at bedtime and how dark it is in the morning when we are getting ready for school. It makes me laugh how innocent their minds work. They were utterly convinced this morning that I was waking them up in the middle of the night to go to school. “Mommy, why are we going to school in the middle of the night?”. I have tried explaining season changes and time changes to them with unregistered glares back. My littlest was very upset that all the beautiful yellow leaves have now fallen off the trees by our house and are bare. Her favorite color is now gone and according to her it didn’t last as long as she liked. Well, I can agree there. Autumn seems to be on speed here and came and gone in one week. I am so happy I took the moment to stop and play in the leaves while we were getting milk at the grocery store one day otherwise we would have missed documenting Autumn completely.

TOGETHER THEY ARE LOVING…

Building leave piles and jumping in them from all the fallen leaves.

Learning how to ride bikes (again) together.

New playdoh ice cream set from Granny.

Spending a whole weekend just with Granny.

Countdown to Halloween, Thanksgiving and even Christmas. (Holiday season is here).

Planning our next vacation together.

Having a school disco that they can go together. (MM is very excited she is in school for this now).

Helping Mommy bake some Halloween treats for a party.

Teaching his sister how to build Legos properly like a big kid. (His words not mine).

Don’t get me wrong, I am a shouty mommy still. I still get really frustrated with my two little siblings here. They don’t fight like I did with my siblings when we were growing up yet but man do they love to gang up on dear old ma. The countless times I tell them stop doing this, go do that, don’t touch that, get off the dresser, don’t jump from couch to couch. In these ways they are like every other sibling out there. They love getting up to no good together. Team Naughty I call them! Forget cute fake twins for now, they talk each other into jumping off the wardrobes the other day. Had me gasping for air while I ran to get them down to safety. They have no fear together which isn’t always a good thing. So in this sense while I always boast about how inseparable they are ( I know so many don’t believe me come meet them) but I still have hard days of parenting. They still make a mess together too. The house is their jungle and they are the monkeys and boy do they swing about.

It’s been such a faster start to the month than September was for us. The kids are long into the school start now and getting routines down for homework and after school activities. Now, we prepare for the holiday season ahead of us, the busy time of year where we all blink and it’s January, freezing and nothing to keep our jollies up until Spring hits. I am sad we haven’t had the warmer Autumn that we tend to get here in the UK, so I hope winter is kinder to us ahead.

    • Oh thank you darling you are so sweet. They really are little twins in so many ways it blows my mind sometimes. You are kind on the photos and made my day. Took so many yesterday and hated them all. I don’t always get it right.

    • Yes so true, it’s a huge mess. EEEK I cringe when they ask for it out. Thanks lovely. Sadly these are the only photos I got of Autumn the storm hit the next day and all the leaves were literally ripped off the trees around us. Everything is bare way too early this year.

    • Oh thank you lovely. I know, my mother always said when I first got pregnant with my second baby, be prepared for them to bicker and fight and you are the referee 24/7 she never mentioned them deciding to be the best team ever and constantly gang up on me and get in trouble together climbing and jumping off things when I am not looking. Cheeky two these monkeys.

  1. These are such lovely pictures – it does seem a bit like Autumn has been and gone already though doesn’t it. It’s so sweet that they find each other at school – my brother is two years older than me and I remember how much I loved seeing him in the playground too.
And congratulations again – how exciting that there’s going to be a third sibling in these pictures next year! #SiblingsProject
