Pit & Peak of the Week #6

Last updated on November 16th, 2023 at 04:42 pm

In the last week so much has happened, with Christmas Eve jollies, Christmas Day festivities, Boxing Day (which was my 30th b-day) and then travelling to Lanzarote for New Years, it’s been one big blur. There was so many highs and lows it is hard to pick out which to call my Pit & Peak of the Week.

Pit: This week our Pit is exhaustion. It seems like the four of us just can’t get enough sleep. All this excitement has our routines shot out the window. We all are normally good sleepers except for Mr. P. but lately it seems our sleep is more interrupted and broken. I can handle most things in life, but lack of sleep isn’t one of them. We have always been so grateful that normally both of our kids sleep well. I cringed when people tell me they have to get up two or three times a night to see to their child. How do they function the next day? As I sit here and try to type through my heavy eyes, and weak limbs, I wonder how some parents survive on so little sleep? Have secrets – do tell?

Peak: Our Peak this week is witnessing Buba opening his Christmas presents. Missy Moo is way too young to grasp any of it but it was Buba’s first year where he kind knew what was going on and could open presents himself.  Mr. P. and I got the best gift of all watching him open his main present, he squealed at the top of his lungs, “CARS!” when the wrapping paper was torn away. The look on his face was priceless along with shaking of his fists in the air, standing there impatiently waiting for Daddy to open them for him. He looked like he was having convulsions. It was hilarious, after that, he didn’t want any other present or breakfast, he just wanted to play with his new cars. I have to say we aren’t one for spoiling our kids at Christmas and going over board with toys but to give them a few small things and them (especially Buba) to cherish it so much right away melts my heart. He was so grateful.

    • No, we are still in Lanzarote now until Jan 6. Stayed for New Years and Mr. P. bday on the 5th. Been a great vacation but boy is it hard work with two little ones. I need extra arms to carry everything and bigger elevators abroad. lol
