Styling the Seasons: Chalk Paint

I absolutely love upcycling and diy projects. If I can take something in my house or something that someone else doesn’t want anymore into something useful, amazing and pretty, I am happy. Today I have been working on a project that has literally been sitting in my garage forever. Oops. I have been dying to repaint this shabby old side table that someone was throwing out. It had a half painted white/yellow color to it. The person that had it before didn’t even bother finish painting it as it appears they might have had the same idea as I did and just given up. It had screws sticking out so I think they just didn’t want to bother anymore. Lucky me! I screwed the screws so they were flush and then filled it in and sanded it down. Other than that there was nothing wrong with it.

I am teaming up this year with PintyPlus and their amazing Chalk Paint Spray. Yes, that’s right that popular paint everyone is raving about comes in a spray can. I jumped for joy, too. I thought it would be perfect for this little upcycle job. I could finally have a finished plant table for my new living room. Bonus!

Step One: Spray your choice of Chalk Paint Spray color on any wood, metal, plastic.

Step Two: If you want a varnish finish, use the PintyPlus varnish spray but not necessary.

All you have to do is spray, that’s it.

PintyPlus comes in 18 colours in 400ml aerosol cans which cover 2 m2. I chose Blanco Roto for my upcycling plant table project. The colors are fun, vibrant and I can’t wait to get painting more items soon. It’s touch dry in 20 minutes what’s better than that?

I could believe how fast I had painted a piece of furniture, how fast it dried and I had it back in the house ready to decorate and put my plants on it. I was really impressed with it. I noticed that it didn’t have a strong paint odor as most spray paints do which was great. I don’t think I really needed the varnish spray as the chalk paint dried with a nice finish already. I added it to be on the safe side as people might be setting their cups on the table as it’s next to my sofa. styling the seasons april with chalk paint spray

I love decorating little corners of my house each month. Whether it’s a new plant or vase added to our home or a full room makeover. As part of this month’s Styling the Seasons, it’s all about the cacti, plants, and succulents in our home. The more the merrier, I say. I will admit to not always being able to keep my indoor plants alive but I think I am pretty safe with my new cactus. My new favorite thing is to layer pots for each plant. So I got this ikea white pot and put the pot the cactus came in inside it. It’s a great layered look and I have done this with my pots outside on the patio too.

My little corner looked so bare recently and now it has come to life with plants, cacti and a little chalk paint spray. I think live plants make a house feel so welcoming and homey. My room was in need of some color too. Now all I need is to get the handyman to come hang my mirror above the sofa and my new living room is complete. I can’t wait to share my room tour with you all.

    • Thanks lovely it is a cute little side table for a cuppa too. I love having house plants now that the kids are older won’t knock them over or eat them, play in them. lol Chalk paint in a can is the best thing ever invented. I already have a few projects lined up to cover in it. lol 🙂

  1. Ha ha, this made me laugh. The number of items in my garage that could do with this treatment! This paint looks so easy to use and what a difference it made to that stand. Great suggestion. Thanks for hosting #sharewithme

    • It was so quick and easy to use and dried in seconds I swear I am in love with it. I have been taking everything out of the garage and giving it a lick of paint.

  2. Lovely, Jenny! I love that chalk paint comes in a can 🙂 Your nook looks lovely with your plants. I love the fact that there’s a pop of green and purple constrasting the grey and white on the walls and the plant shelf. Thanks so much for hosting us on #sharewith me this week 🙂

    • Oh thanks lovely. The purple matches the cushions on the sofa and I choose white as my walls are cream so I wanted it to pop a bit more. Can’t beat a good cacti though either.

  3. This looks ace! I’ve not seen chalk paint in a can before but this looks so much easier and less messy than using a paintbrush. Also love the plants you’ve chosen – they seem to be taking over my house at the moment! x #sharewithme
