It was a lovely afternoon last Sunday, the kids had just woke up from their naps with nothing special planned, we thought we would take a stroll around the neighborhood. As we sandals up the horses, or rather got the stroller and kids ready, I saw my neighbor grabbing something from her car and go back in the house. I popped over to see if they wanted to join us. A thought occurred to me, we could go feed the ducks around the corner. It’s one of the many things I love about the area we moved to, for the kids. Although I am pretty sure Buba would say the four big playgrounds we have within walking distance of our house is the highlight. So there our adventure began to go feed the ducks. We decided to put Missy Moo in my friend’s stroller so the boys could play race car in the double stroller together. I have never seen two boys laugh so hard in my life. It was hilarious. I am sure Mr P slept good that night, as he was the driver having to push and swerve the stroller with both toddlers on it all the way to the duck pond. Mills was right along side as his co-captain while Missy Moo enjoyed time with her Godmother. It’s times like this I feel so bless. It was nothing planned, nothing extravagant and yet it felt like it. I am bless to have my best friend living right next door, I am bless the she has two amazing kids that are so close with my kids, and I am most blessed that we all feel so comfortable together even Mr P in the mix of it all, like family.
The race car driving got seriously close to tipping over but the tots were having the time of their lives. Mr P was lucky it wasn’t too far more to go. The sun was warm on our backs and it was good to grab some much needed fresh air. I enjoyed running ahead and snapping up photos of them all, practicing with my camera. Moving targets are not easy. I think half came out blurred, but I also wanted to enjoy the moment too. Chatting with my best friend and listen to the kids run around. And we finally arrived at the duck pond.
I don’t know who started eating the bread first, if it was Mr P or little E but it was hilarious to look back over my photos and find these two shots above, both chomping away at the stale bread for the ducks. Glad we had brought extra, not that the ducks would have minded. They didn’t seem too keen on us or our bread sadly. I think because it was a nice weekend, they had been overfed.
That didn’t stop us from trying to come to them. Usually you can walk straight up to the fence and they swarm you. So we did what naughty people do and hopped the fence to give them lunch in bed. Mills was the bravest getting right up to the edge. I think they liked her sweet little voice and the way she talked to them. A few came over with little ducklings, which were so cute. I tried to get a close up but they swamp away.
This is my all time favorite photo of my best friend’s boy and Buba together. Like they were sitting there having a good chat about life and what their next move was. Both intrigued on the ducks in front of them. They have such a special bond, one that was never forced just because their mother’s are best friends. It just happened naturally, as they got older, they started to play more and more together, instead of side by side when we met up. Now, they are like two peas in a pod, plotting their adventures together and never leaving one behind. If they spot each other across the street, from their house to ours, they both shout out for each other. I love watching them together and so blessed my son has such an amazing friend, as I have and even though Mills is much older than Missy Moo, I know Mills will look after her and be there for her.
There aren’t any photos of Missy Moo only because she was having a really tough day that day. Most of it was filled with tears but Mills was quick to help her smile and play peekaboo with her as we made our way to the ducks. So Mommy continued to cuddle her while she helped take some more photos. Meanwhile, we saw those boys plans come into action. What they secretly were scheming above. Buba was there helping his buddy hop over the fence and closer to those ducks! There is nothing better than chasing ducks, I bet they would both agree!
Overall, it was a great little unplanned afternoon with friends, which always turn out to be the best. Nothing major, just the presence of great company, laughter and a few ducks.
The photos are lovely, you can see the boys are having the time of their lives!
They really were. I haven’t heard them laugh so hard ever! lol
I love the last pic of Buba, he looks so concerned and helpful! Bless him.
Lovely ordinary moment 🙂
It sounds like you had a great afternoon! We’ve got some ducks and geese at a pond in the park near our house – I haven’t taken Toby to feed them yet though.
Love these pictures and such great afternoon fun! xx
Ah these photos are gorgeous Jenny, they all look so happy and carefree. So sweet. You can’t beat a trip to feed the ducks, it is one of those things that perfectly sum up childhood I think. Lots of fun, free and never gets boring. I have such fond memories of going to do it with my parents and grandparents when I was little. x
i never did it as a kid but I love watching my two and my best friends kids get so excited about it and have so much fun together. These unplanned moments are always my favorite and hopefully the kids too. I am trying to get better with my photography but it’s a slow process. I keep reverting back to manual mode. Boo.
Amazing photos BFF thanks for sharing, I love our family fun days special moments with special people. Promise next time round ill do the snapping so you can get in the photos. ❤️ You guys x
Some of my favorite pics of our beach trip last year were of our kiddos feeding the ducks. Love this!
Aww sounds like a lovely little outing! Must be lovely being so close to your best friend, you really are very lucky to have that! Sorry to hear Missy Moo had a bad day! Xx #magicmoments
Thanks Caroline. I don’t know what I would do without my besty next door. I really struggled as an expat and she has made it a lot easier to be so far away from all my own family and friends back home.
Such lovely photos of the boys together, they look so full of joy #magicmoments
Thanks Louisa. They are the best of friends its so amazing to have them next door to hang out with more.
Sometimes the most ordinary activities turn out to be the best! What lovely photos of the boys enjoying each others company and having so much fun together. Thanks for linking up and sharing your sunny fun with Country Kids.
Feeding the ducks rocks! It is such a simple little thing to do yet it makes the kids so happy, love it! The kids look like they’ve had such a great time! x Mel #MagicMoments
Yes they definitely had a blash silly kiddies. I love watching them play together.
Ah what a lovely little friendship is forming there! My son has his best friends too and they are really little monkeys together – as you say, like two peas in a pod! We love feeding the ducks but yes it inevitably ends up with one child or other attempting to eat the stuff themselves (never seen the hubster that hungry though 😉 ) #magicmoments
hahah You haven’t met my hubby, he never feeds the ducks. Although on his behalf the bread was pretty fresh! lol
Wow looks like a great afternoon hun and having your best friend next door is lovely! The unexpected days out are normally the best 🙂 Gorgeous photos x #ordinarymoments x
Ahh Thanks Michelle. You couldn’t be more right. I love having her next door. I see her way more that way. Even if it’s a second chat while we walk to our cars. lol
Those boys hopping the fence is classic! Too bad Missy Moo was having a rough day and couldn’t enjoy the fun…we all have our off days every once in a while 🙁
Yes I think mine is today. hahah Wait you meant all of us right. hahahaa Ya I was sad she wasn’t in any photo but she was not well at all. The boys had me laughing so hard. They are hilarious together.
