Buba, we headed off to France this past weekend, and in typical fashion you became very ill. It’s your rotten luck that we always end up at the hospital or doctors with you while we are vacationing abroad. I wish you had a stronger immune system, better luck and less things that keep knocking you down. I will say this, you must have been in horrible pain with a throat infection and not being able to eat the entire time we were there but you still were a trooper. You still found some way to smile once or twice during the day when the medicine kicked in. You still attempted to get up on that horse and ride it at the park. You tried with all your might to play with your friends, and their toys; even if you had to lay down every half hour or so on the couch, too weak to play. I hate that I couldn’t help you and make your holiday better. For the first time ever, I scooped you up in the middle of the night and cuddled you all night while you shook and whimpered through your fevers. It just showed me you can’t plan anything perfectly you just got to deal with what’s right then and there no matter where you are. You were brave with the French doctors and became more yourself again just in time to come home but you got to run around outside and make the most of the last hour or so before we left, that’s what I will remember. I hope that’s what you will remember too! Squealing with laughter, a smile on your face with good friends and family around you.

Missy Moo, you took France by storm and made one great holiday for yourself. I really enjoyed watching you play with the two older girls, keeping up with them in your stride. You pranced around in your dresses and were running wild through the gardens of our friend’s house. The sun seemed to make you giddy more than normal. I have never heard you laugh so hard, seen you be so happy, and watch you play so hard in your entire little life. It was a pleasure this past weekend traveling with you. Even though we stick to routines at home some of that had to go out the window and you coped so perfectly with it all. You showed concern for your sick brother but you were not your normal jealous self about sharing mommy this time. It was like you knew he really needed mommy cuddles this weekend. You played independently while the older girls were at school. I love watching you exploring and play make believe with the toys in the garden. There was so much space outdoors for you to run and be free and it looks like that’s the kind of thing you need. You are a kindred spirit, wild and free.

So sorry to hear that Buba was ill, I hope he is on the mend now. It’s nice to hear that Missy Moo understood that he needed a little extra mummy time.
Oh yes it made it way easier on me. She was great. He was a trooper throughout it bless him!
Hope the little fella is feeling better soon! Great photos, she’s such a little darling! #livingarrows
Thanks hubby she is but I am bias. Hahaha we had a great time. Buba is on the mend now.
Beautiful pictures! I think they perfectly capture Bubas brave spirit and Missy Moo’s wonderful giddiness x
Thank you Charlene. Yes so true. Great way to put it.
I loved what you said about not being able to plan for every eventually and just having to deal with what’s in front of you in the moment. I’m trying to accept that more now that I’m a parent. xxx
It was hard for me too at first and not in line with my personality but I have changed so much since having children it’s just comes as par for the course. lol Thanks.
Lovely letters! Great idea too. Such a shame you lad was poorly! Always the worst timing but sounds like he gave having fun his best shot! It must have been a proud moment watching your little girl seem so grown up! Hope the holiday was fab despite this! Xxx #sharewithme
It was a very proud moment but a sad one too Sarah, I really couldn’t believe how much it looked like she changed. It almost made me cry. Where has my baby gone? Then of course my first born is always sick and usually on vacation we end up at doctors or hospitals, just our luck and his. We always make memories in the end though. Love writing to them each week.
Oh no, I hope Buba is better now! Lovely photos, bet France was great x x
France was lovely and we had a great time catching up with friends too. I would move there in a heart beat. B is all better now thankfully.
Love. So cute! How nice for them to have these when they’re older.
#sharewithme
I put them all into a book for them to have at the end of each year. I can’t wait to read back on them someday too. Thanks.
Hope Buba is better now. We really can’t plan for every eventuality with children – so true. #sharewithme
Oh we have our fair share I think while holidaying but we are learning to be pros at it too. B is all better now thank you.
So sorry to hear that Bubba was unwell while you were in France but glad he managed to enjoy some moments here and there and hope he is feeling much better now. Missy Moo sounds like she really enjoyed it and seemed to realise how much Bubba needed your cuddles.
She was brilliant on our holiday and really came into her own personality too. It was adorable. B is a lot better now thank you. We are used to it with his bubble boyness, he gets sick a lot and has other ailments that always make it harder for him than others. Bless.
These a beautiful letters, full of a mothers love, and deep affection. It makes such a difference to stop and reflect over these things every once in a while. Your letters are a wonderful way to do that x
Thank you so much darling. I love writing directly to them each week. And one day will all be nicely put into a book for them too.
Aww bless them both your poor lovely boy, glad he is a lot better now and you all had a good time despite the bugs. Horrid timing, but it is sods law isn’t it? Missy Moo sounds so lovely letting her big brother have much needed cuddles x
I think it was the older girls to play with and the new environment but I was impressed with her giving B the time he needed with me. He was so sick. Bless him. But on the mend now.
Sorry to hear Buba was so poorly on holiday, I hope he is feeling a lot better now.
Lovely letters and reflections on your holiday, nice to look back on these in time to come.
Thank you. These are some of my favorite posts to write each week. It’s something directly to them so they know what we were up to and how are a parent I was feeling and experiencing it along with them.
Lovely post, such a great idea to keep the memories x
Thank you Caroline, I love writing directly to them each week, document adventures and milestones so they can look back on when they are older.
Sorry to here bubba was poorly, but glad that he is ok now! Its horrible when they are ill when you’re away! Sounds like a fun time though, nevertheless! #sharewithme x
Oh yes we still made the very most of it all while we were in France. Who wouldn’t? It’s a beautiful country. And it was easier as we were staying with lovely friends.
Such a shame that bubba was ill, hope he’s back to his usual self now. Still sounds like you managed to create some great memories.
Thank you Stacey, it is a shame but typical. He has the short end of the stick every time when we travel bless him. Oh yes lots of great memories with great friends.
These letters are so lovely 🙂 x
Thank you so much Laura, I love writing to them and capturing them each week. They change so much at this age.
Aw bless you son being so poorly while on holiday, he still looks so happy in the photo. It sounds like your daughter had an amazing time on holiday xx
He was for the most part keeping up with us all. Normally he would just lay on the couch and not move or speak to anyone. So I was very proud of him for sucking it up and we all made the most of it and had a great time. Thank you.
Poor Buba, bless him, I hope his immune system picks up as he grows older. Missy Moo is so flipping cute, glad she made the most of the trip! x
Thanks Lisa. She is but I am so very bias as her mother. hahaha She completely grew up on this trip. B is on the mend and fine now.
Oh how unlucky, mine are always ill and that is one thing that makes me worried about going abroad. Glad the French doctors were ok. Missy moo sounds like such a character bless her. beautiful letters. Thanks for hosting xx
Thanks Katy. Oh dear I can go on for days of how many illnesses one of us has had abroad. Goes with the territory of getting on a plane. It’s not as bad as you think. We have been in most doctors and hospitals in four different countries in the last two years and they are all brilliant with expats.
Oh poor little dude – sorry he was poorly #sharewithme
Thanks hunny, he is fine now. Of course, when we are home and nothing planned. Typical isn’t it? lol
Oh that’s not good, being ill on holiday sucks – especially when you’re little – hope Buba is recovering; love the thought of Missy Moo prancing around in her dresses too, quite the little girl 🙂 #sharewithme
She completely is, and knows it unfortunately. Hahaha We still had a great time in France and can’t wait to share it all with you.
What beautiful letters to your little ones. Shame about the illness but what wonderful kids you have there that you managed to make the best of the situation. Cutie picts as always xxx #sharewithme
Thanks Mamasvib you are too kind. They really are great kids but I am bias as their mother. We had a blast.
Sounds like you’ve got two amazing little ones. What a nice idea to write to them and keep the memories like this.
Thank you. I write to them every Monday with a capture photo as they grow and change so much at this age and document adventures we go on and milestones they reach at a time they may not remember themselves. Each year I put them all into a book for them to keep.
Aww, what a holiday on contrasts. It’s horrible when they are ill – you feel so helpless. I’m glad your little man had some time to play though #sharewithme
Thanks he didn’t get much but made the most of it. We love going to France despite our bad luck streak. lol
So sorry about Buba. One of our children is ALWAYS ill on holiday, I think it’s the law. Hope you managed to have fun anyway. That photo of Missy Moo is gorgeous! Great styling with the flower, colours so vibrant and her eyes…! Thanks for hosting, lovely. xx
