Siblings {July 2016}

We are gearing down school time and class routines with these two monkeys for summer break in America. It’s only 10 days (9 sleeps) before we head off to sunshine and family. I can tell these two really need time to recharge their batteries and chill out as much as Mommy does. That’s the beauty of going home every summer to see family and friends where everyone seems to live a much slower pace of life. Our daily lives here seem to be bursting with appointments, classes, lessons, school, nursery, work and endless parties and social events at the moment. That slower pace of life is just what we need for the next month and a half.

I have noticed a lot of changes in these two lately too. MM turned three years old a few weeks ago which I still can’t get over. She is growing up way too fast on me. Somehow it seems she is catching up with her brother in some many ways. While B has slowed down on the growing taller for the moment she is skyrocketing. I think she might even catch up with her big brother to his dismay. More and more they are talking and learning on the same wave length as B tries to teach her everything he learns each day at school. B is already preparing her for reception a year in advanced I think. haha They talk nonstop now about everything under the sun which is quite entertaining to be honest. From talking about school and friends to being silly and playing games these two are still stuck like glue to each other. Their personalities are feeling really similar at the moment. They both find the same things funny, silly and or gross. They are loving the same foods, toys and activities which makes my life easier. I find it’s easier them being such a great team when other things are hectic. It’s like they know when Mommy and Daddy can handle the craziness of bickering and tantrums and when we can’t. I am so grateful for that at the moment too. siblings july 2016 portrait family photo project with Dear Beautiful siblings july 2016 portrait family photo project with Dear Beautiful TOGETHER THEY ARE LOVING…

Playing with the neighbor kids in their new playhouse outside.

Playing restaurant with their new playdoh food set.

Extra time with Granny and Granddad before we go to America.

Shopping for their summer wardrobes

Playing their new LeapStart.

Swimming at David Lloyd each week as much as they want.

While MM is catching up and maturing to her brother’s level, he still remains her idle. He still remains her protector on the school playgrounds and her best friend. Her big brother is still the one she cries for when she is scared or lonely and he still is the one that rushes to get her favorite toy that he knows will make her happy. He knows her better than anyone.

They have really been my rocks, together, this month when things haven’t been the best for us adults in the house. They both seem to know when I need that extra cuddle or kiss from them or need them to be a team and best behavior for me. I love that they love each other so much and that they will always have each other to lean on if needed. I never imagined when I had to babies the feeling you get from them loving each other . It was always a feeling of loving two children from a parent’s point of view. That sibling bond is so very special to watch grow and change every day, together.

    • It really is the surprise that comes after having two isn’t it? No one mentions it to you or not something at the forefront of your mind until it happens and it’s a lovely present to be given as a parent watching them grow up together and bond. Thanks for your lovely comments. We can’t wait to be home as normally we are already there this time of year.

    • She really is acting so grown up too. I can’t believe it. It was like she was a toddler than somehow she just really seems like a little girl all the sudden even though technically still a toddler. She seems to be catching up with her brother for everything at the moment too. My little fake twins.
