siblings november photo project

Siblings {November}

Siblings is a monthly portrait project from the lovely DearBeautiful, sharing the captures of our little ones as they bond as siblings, love as siblings, fight as siblings, and everything in between.

Whilst I have been extremely sick lately and trying to keep up with these two rascals I have tried to still capture these two in their finest moments. I have noticed lately they both have become regular comedians. The cheekiness is in both of their eyes and they are constantly not only making Mr P and I laugh but making each other squeal with laughter by doing the most normal things like sitting on the kitchen floor with Missy Moo’s famous ducky creating over an hour of giggles. I never knew a little ducky could make two tots laugh so hard. siblings november photo projectIt’s moments like these that make me so grateful to have two beautiful babies. I have given them each other, a forever best friend. The one that has been there from the beginning and will be there until the end.

The older Missy Moo gets the more I am seeing a change in the dynamic of their relationship. Before, Buba was more of a protector to his babysitter over everything even her falling over when she learned to walk. He used to brush her hair and fetch her dollies for her. The more independent she becomes, she has become his partner in crime, his everyday playmate. They are becoming more equals. He still wants to protect her but on a much bigger level. He lets her be more independent too, cheering her on from the side lines. I am loving this new equal dynamic.

They both sit at the table in big kid chairs now.

They both sip from big kid cups now.

They both feed themselves or each other now.

They both play independently and together not needing mommy so much now.

It’s hard to let go of my last baby being a baby. I can vouch that having two toddlers is a lot harder than it ever was having a baby & toddler and a lot sadder as I know that my baby days are over. That era is closed now. But as I watch them both being more equal and doing more grown up things I get excited for the future. I get excited for the things we will soon be able to do and enjoy as they age.

November has brought on these two tot’s cheekiness to its all time highest. It has shown these two siblings are now equals. May the giggles and laughter long last through the new year!

  1. Oh they do both have such a wonderful glint of mischief in their eyes in that first picture don’t they – it makes you smile just to look at it! They’re gorgeous pictures of two gorgeous children, it’s lovely that they’re just getting closer and closer as they get older 🙂

  2. It;s crazy how all of a sudden it’s like having two children instead of a baby and an older child, I love watching my two get closer and closer. They have a special bond that no-one else can be part of. Love that first photo too, adorable! x

    • Thanks Jess. I know it’s a weird feeling like having twins almost. They are just one in the same at the moment. It’s beautiful to watch but they definitely leave mommy out a lot now. hahaha

  3. Lovely photos and they definitely look like they have a wonderful bond and have so much fun together. I too am finding that the age gap seems to diminish now that my little one is on the move. I can see how Missy Moo moving out of the baby stage is very bittersweet though. Lovely to see that sibling bond grow each month x

    • Thank you so kindly Mel that’s really sweet of you to say. I am lucky it’s not hard to get these two to make each other laugh. I actually was laying on the floor a great place for a coughing fit or two. lol Took me away to stop coughing into between captures. lol

  8. Aww! they are such cuties Jenny! That sibling bond is definitely a strong one – my three love and fight in equal measure! But ultimately they are always supportive of each other, and as a parent that is pretty amazing to watch! Loved reading this pet xxx

  9. Letting go of the baby days is bittersweet when you know it’s your last. I’m already feeling a bit like this about my mobile and mischievous nine month old monkey! Your two are simply adorable hon 🙂

Sorry to hear that you’ve been unwell. Hopefully nothing serious xx

  10. It is so lovely when you hit this milestone and the dynamic changes. It’s such hard work but so much fun, and hopefully now it will keep getting easier! I’ve seen lots of what you’ve mentioned above in Freddie and Sasha’s relationship, and it’s so nice to see. Wish they’d fight less though when playing, but we’re having longer and longer periods of time when they play so well and amuse themselves. A bit of a light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to the hard slog that comes with looking after babies and younger toddlers! Buba and Missy Moo have exactly the same cheeky grin as each other! x

  13. They are absolutely adorable. My brother and I were quite close in age (20 months apart) and we were the best allies when we were small. We had the natural differences as teenagers but even though he is younger than me, he always looked out for me. I do hope you feel better soon. xx
