It’s February! How did this happen. We are a week into the shortest month of the year. I love how fast February flies by because its one step closer to spring and lovely March. But this year, I am slowing down a bit and trying to embrace every moment. I am joining in with styling the seasons to take time to enjoy the various corners of my home. Playing with home accessories has always made me smile. I also am a huge fan of wooden crates and the shabby chic farm look. So this month I am teaming up Lilly Loray as well. I was so excited to receive this stunning wooden crate to add to my new back room. While the furniture is taking longer to get here than expected, typical I know, we have one corner all finished.
What I love about a wood crate is that you can do so many different things with it. With a single crate you can turn it up right to make it a nice side table next to a chair or sofa. Then add a lamp, vase of flowers, or your favorite book. Either way, it adds that rustic feel to your room. I am a huge fan of all neutral colors with creams, whites, greys with a splash of wood to make it pop. You can even turn it on it’s side to make a shorter and wider side table.
Why not go for a bigger focal piece and create shelves out of a few crates. I love this look. I can imagine I will rearrange them weekly like the rest of my shelves in my house. Nothing ever stays the same here. You could have two crates on their side and two on top standing tall for storage and display shelves in a dining room or living room.
This month I have been playing with my Lilly Loray Crate all over the house. It frequents my instagram photos quite often. It holds my afternoon coffee or tea while I am going through emails or reading a new book while littlest naps. I think it’s going to tie in well with our new sofa and armchair that’s coming next month.
Each month, Katy from Apartment Apothecary and Charlotte from Lotts and Lots run a monthly blogging series called Styling the Seasons. Go check out the most beautiful and inspiring images by searching #stylingtheseasons on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Moving around home accessories gives you that little bit of change and a new perspective every so often. It gives it a feeling of fresh and new without spending money. I love it.

#Sharewithme
Oh yes I am huge huge into old and new mixed together int he house. Loving the house coming together. It takes forever but by June I hope the entire house is finished for awhile. lol Still don’t know what to do with our loft conversion big decisions.
Your little vignettes around the house are so lovely, Jenny and this is no exception. I love the idea of having a crate as a side table! It can also be used as book shelves for children’s rooms. Their books aren’t too heavy of think, so you’ll be able to get more into them, and if you mount them to all, they can be used as shadow boxes for their keepsakes and such as well! Thanks so much for sharing and for hosting us on #sharewithme this week!
Oh great ideas Maria. I never thought of mounting them. Brilliant. I am doing one in distressed white paint that I got at a junk yard for the kids room I think. So much fun to be had with them.
That looks lovely & really goes with the way you’ve styled it! #sharewithme
Thanks lovely. I love a good style project. Although I am sure it will change weekly. lol I love moving things around the house.
I love crates like this too. Very versatile, and I could see it fitting in well with our house, as well as being useful for photographing things!
Oh yes you will see it the next few weeks in a lot of my instagram photos it’s perfect for styling and propping etc. hahaha Crates are the best. Good luck.
Loving this wood crate idea. I actually have one in the garage just sitting there. It’s a bit shabby, but still, there is hope for it.
And yes, bring on March!
LOVE that crate! I need to try and get my hands on two for bedside tables also! Love all of your beautiful ideas! #sharewithme
As a big fan of vintage styling, I love this crate. I have a champagne crate dating from 1945, my great-grandfather ran a catering company in Bristol. The crate came from one of their silver-service functions. Its one of my favourite possessions. I really must take some photos of it & put on my blog #sharewithme
These are fabulous
Oh, I love the shabby chic look with lots of white! That is a lovely crate. It adds to the shabby chic feel.
Thanks Erin, me too. All my house is either cream or paint with accents of color. Keeping the calm and neutral vibes. I love styling a good shelf though over and over.
I love your style Jenny! And your photography is beautiful as usual! XXX #sharewithme
Fatima you are too kind thank you lovely.
Ooh I love this as an idea for a bedside table! I love the accessories too. I’ll definitely be checking out #stylingtheseason on Instagram xx #sharewithme
Thanks lovely yes pleas do it’s so fun to styling a space or corner of the house each month and think of the seasons that come and go. Lovely idea for bedside table. Good luck.
Such a great post, Jenny! Love all the different ways you have used the crate and your calm, neutral colour palette. I love using crates for storage and adding castors to the bottom to make them more flexible. Hope your furniture arrives sooner rather than later (we have been waiting 14 weeks for our sofa – gahh!!!) xx
Thanks for a lovely giveaway xxx
Love that, perfect for my living room x

If I was lucky enough to win this then it is definitely going in our bedroom lovely to put some decorations on
great giveaway!
This would look fab in my bedroom , hope I’m lucky enough to win xx
I like the aged look of this crate. We had a clear out and I banished all furniture made of chipboard & veneer, MDF, etc., so this would fit well with our remaining real wood pieces.
Have you had a look at pinterest. If itβs later in the Fall maybe do like a wagon theme with beautiful colorful leaves everywhere to jump in and not sure how old but a mini wagon to ride in and you can do cowboy hats if he/she is young if there older pinterest is great for ideas I could list thousands here but not sure you will see my reply. lol Need any ideas let me know on twitter what age for your sons
Oh thanks a great idea. I love pinterest. So nice to change things around too.
