Lilly Loray Wood Crate Review + Win competition Styling the Seasons FebruaryIt’s February! How did this happen. We are a week into the shortest month of the year. I love how fast February flies by because its one step closer to spring and lovely March. But this year, I am slowing down a bit and trying to embrace every moment. I am joining in with styling the seasons to take time to enjoy the various corners of my home. Playing with home accessories has always made me smile. I also am a huge fan of wooden crates and the shabby chic farm look. So this month I am teaming up Lilly Loray as well. I was so excited to receive this stunning wooden crate to add to my new back room. While the furniture is taking longer to get here than expected, typical I know, we have one corner all finished.

What I love about a wood crate is that you can do so  many different things with it. With a single crate you can turn it up right to make it a nice side table next to  a chair or sofa. Then add a lamp, vase of flowers, or your favorite book. Either way, it adds that rustic feel to your room. I am a huge fan of all neutral colors with creams, whites, greys with a splash of wood to make it pop. You can even turn it on it’s side to make a shorter and wider side table.

Why not go for a bigger focal piece and create shelves out of a few crates. I love this look. I can imagine I will rearrange them weekly like the rest of my shelves in my house. Nothing ever stays the same here. You could have two crates on their side and two on top standing tall for storage and display shelves in a dining room or living room.

This month I have been playing with my Lilly Loray Crate all over the house. It frequents my instagram photos quite often. It holds my afternoon coffee or tea while I am going through emails or reading a new book while littlest naps. I think it’s going to tie in well with our new sofa and armchair that’s coming next month.

Moving around home accessories gives you that little bit of change and a new perspective every so often. It gives it a feeling of fresh and new without spending money. I love it. Lilly Loray Wood Crate Review + Win competition Styling the Seasons February

  1. I love this – I’m a massive faffer with my shelves and displays, nothing makes me happier than switching it up a bit. Love the sound of that sea salt candle too – very February sounding!

  2. I love this style too. Hubby is not a fan though so sneaking pieces like this into my house is somewhat of a challenge πŸ˜‰ #sharewithme

  5. Your little vignettes around the house are so lovely, Jenny and this is no exception. I love the idea of having a crate as a side table! It can also be used as book shelves for children’s rooms. Their books aren’t too heavy of think, so you’ll be able to get more into them, and if you mount them to all, they can be used as shadow boxes for their keepsakes and such as well! Thanks so much for sharing and for hosting us on #sharewithme this week!

    • Oh great ideas Maria. I never thought of mounting them. Brilliant. I am doing one in distressed white paint that I got at a junk yard for the kids room I think. So much fun to be had with them.

  6. Loving this wood crate idea. I actually have one in the garage just sitting there. It’s a bit shabby, but still, there is hope for it.

    And yes, bring on March!

  7. As a big fan of vintage styling, I love this crate. I have a champagne crate dating from 1945, my great-grandfather ran a catering company in Bristol. The crate came from one of their silver-service functions. Its one of my favourite possessions. I really must take some photos of it & put on my blog #sharewithme

    • Thanks Erin, me too. All my house is either cream or paint with accents of color. Keeping the calm and neutral vibes. I love styling a good shelf though over and over.

  9. Such a great post, Jenny! Love all the different ways you have used the crate and your calm, neutral colour palette. I love using crates for storage and adding castors to the bottom to make them more flexible. Hope your furniture arrives sooner rather than later (we have been waiting 14 weeks for our sofa – gahh!!!) xx

  10. I like the aged look of this crate. We had a clear out and I banished all furniture made of chipboard & veneer, MDF, etc., so this would fit well with our remaining real wood pieces.
