Three Siblings in March

It’s time for our Siblings Photo Project…

My little munchkins and I have had a tough start to March. The weather didn’t help blowing and howling, keeping us all up at night. They bonded as three siblings through illness this month too. One night the vomit bug hit us like the plague and one by one they all had it. It was a miracle that I didn’t get it (yet) and Daddy did. That is unheard of for me not to catch something the kids had, to be honest. It wasn’t long before all three of them were sharing sick buckets and watching Puppy Dog Pals all day, missing school. We had a lot of duvet days to recover from it which was light at the end of a yucky tunnel.

It’s hard when one of them is ill but harder when all are ill together. I was running from room to room trying to be there for whichever one needed me most. They were kind to help each other out if I couldn’t run to one fast enough. At one point I ran into the bathroom and B was being sick in the sink and MM in the toilet and B said, “MM couldn’t reach the sink so I gave her the toilet”. Now, that’s a gentlemen right there folks!

Yet, they still know how to put smiles on their faces and have a great time. Baby O is really starting to interact and it’s more fun for you all three to play together these days. He is still the boss of the house. I think he will remain boss of this house too. He just has to make a peep and both are fighting over who will get him his favorite toy first or do the floss and entertain him the best. Not always ideal when they rush up to him all at once just makes him more mad but generally they can calm him down the fastest.

I swear they already have their own little language between them.

B is wanting to carry him around the house and pick him up like an adult. I get over paranoid that he isn’t strong enough or realize what would happen if he throws a fit and drops him. I try to let him help me as much as possible because it’s lovely seeing him cuddle him. I am hoping as Baby O gets more on his feet and solid, I won’t be as nervous. Were you ever nervous for an older child to hold their baby sibling????

These Three Siblings together are loving…

Teaching Baby O to crawl.

Feeding Baby O.

Baby O watching them dance a disco in the kitchen.

Building a den and watching Puppy Dog Pals together (missing school).

Helping Mommy paint (during Baby O naps).

Chasing Baby O in his walker as he runs around the house like crazy. (watch for your toes it hurts).

I love that each child has one on one time with Baby O too. I think it’s important not to have to share or fight for attention when we are all together, all the time. Sundays MM has gymnastic so Baby O gets to play with B occasionally at home while she goes with a friend. And then B does golf with Daddy and I have MM and Baby O together Sunday afternoons. They both get a chance to have his attention and bond with him individually.

I worry about the age gap between my eldest and my youngest. At almost eight years, I wonder what it will be like when Baby O is 8 and B is 16. It’s worlds apart in maturity and life. I know when they are adults again the age gap will close again. But what about all those years that they might not be close and just annoy each other??? I remember those days with my own sibling and it always made me sad growing up not being close in age to them. I hope Baby O never feels that. I think having MM in the middle will definitely help break that gap up too! He might be closer to one more than the other at various stages in his life.

But at the moment, it’s about all three siblings together. All three siblings, laughing their heads off together. Making silly faces, together. It’s about watching their baby brother grow and change and being mesmerized when he learns to say a new word or soon taking his first steps.

I can’t wait to see their faces when he starts to walk. When he starts to get in their toys and take things from their room while they are at school. I can’t wait to see how the dynamics will flow in the years ahead of us. It’s been amazing ten months watch them become three siblings.

I love this family photo project. It forces me to keep track of my beautiful babies each month.

  1. What gorgeous photos and gorgeous children you have! It is so hard when they are poorly, you are running around like a crazy lady trying to meet the demands of illness. I hope April is a better month for you.

    • Me too, fingers crossed. April holds my brother’s wedding and trip to USA and Easter so lots to look forward to right after mother’s day too.

  2. I’m sorry to hear you were all poorly – my middle one and the husband had it last week and it was awful, a really nasty one. Glad you’re all feeling better now. I honestly wouldn’t worry about the age gap between B and O – my stepdaughter (17) is eight years older than my littlest one (9) and they all get on so well together with a really close bond. B obviously adores O so I’m sure you have nothing to worry about. Gorgeous photos too Jenny, love the yellow. It’s so happy!
