It’s no secret I love Christmas. From the decorations that spill out in every room in my house to the many, many recipes like these Christmas Jam Star Puff Pastries, I make each year for my family and friends. I absolutely love the holidays. I love the happy vibes, the festive cheers, and just how many social events there are. We try to see Santa each year somewhere different, I love booked a theatre show or a pantomime for the kids too. It’s starts to get frosty out and we go ice skating, sipping hot chocolate and basically reliving my childhood Christmases through my kids. Nothing wrong with that right? Do you love the holidays?
One thing that’s also not a secret here on Let’s Talk Mommy is I love easy family friendly recipes. I am a busy parent. Okay, busy doesn’t even come close to what I try to pack into a 24 hour period, it’s insane. But I want my kids growing up learning how to bake and cook and being involved in the kitchen as a family. So without a lot of time on my hands, I am really good at whipping up any platter or dish or treat, last minute when someone in the family wants something or friends pop over. A good tip to do such things is always have a few basic baking ingredients and items like puff pastry in the fridge and the freezer.

My daughter said we needed something festive to snack on last weekend whilst we watched our Christmas movie to kick start the festive season. I hadn’t gone grocery shopping and I we just had enough time between gymnastics and soccer practice to watch Elf. It was time for some Christmas Jam Star Puff Pastries you only truly need three ingredients or four if you are going all out. Takes 15-20 minutes to make and you are ready to go!

- 1 tsp per square strawberry jam (or any jam) depending on how many squares you cut
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar (to sprinkle on top)
Preheat the oven 400F (200C)
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Cut your puff pastry into even squares and makes slits on all four corners of each square toward the middle but not all the way.
Scoop 1 tsp of jam into the center of each square.
Pull every OTHER corner to the middle and lightly press down.
Whip up your egg for your egg wash, and brush a thin layer on the top of all the puff pastry stars.
Pop them onto your lined cookie sheet and in the oven for 10-15 minutes watching them so they don't burn.
**WARNING the jam is very hot when it comes out of the oven, please be careful not to burn yourself or if the kids are baking with you.
We make these each year and bundle them up in little Christmas treat boxes for our neighbors as gifts for the holiday. They are so delicious and scream Christmas time. The great thing about this recipe is you can adapt it to make so many different varieties of Christmas Star Puff Pastries.

The most important part is getting the folding of your star right and it doesn’t matter what yumminess you put inside. For us, it’s whatever we have on hand to whip a batch up.
How Long Do Jam Puff Pastry Stars Last?
To get the best out of your Christmas puff pastry stars you should serve them within 1-2 hours of baking. This gets them at their absolute freshest. You can either serve them warm (but not too hot) or let them cool and then store them in an air tight container until you’re ready to serve.
Freezing Christmas Star Pastries
If you want to get ahead of yourself before a party then you can make these puff pastry stars and freeze them before baking. Follow the recipe for preparing the stars, and then place them in the freezer instead of them oven. After around 3 hours them will be frozen and you can place them into a freezer bag or container. Store in the freezer for up to 2 months cook from frozen when you are ready to use them.
