Special Family Moments in our jammies

The time between dinner and bedtime can always go slightly a stray in our house. My little ones can be super hyper or super cranky, either way it seems a bit of a madhouse during this part of the day. So when Mr. P. had a seminar the other night and wouldn’t be home to tag team the children for bedtime, I decided we were going to break this crazy time and approach it more calmly in our jammies.

Straight after dinner, we washed up and put on our jammies. I pulled out Disney “Cars”, Buba’s favorite movie in preparation for our calm cuddle time. It’s amazing how putting jammies and a movie on transfixed our normal running around to a more calm, cozy evening. I was ecstatic.

Missy Moo was ever so excited to sit next to her big brother and play with her new Peppa Pig, that Mr. P bought her on his way home from Alicante last week. Once she figured out a movie was playing above her, she was just as intrigued with Cars as Buba was. I cuddled up next to both of them and enjoyed the moment.

I say moment because our new calm approach before bedtime only lasted a moment. Soon after, we were back to running around hyper, Missy Moo giggling loudly at her brother doing circles and hopping from couch to couch. I had to laugh at it all, because these are our ordinary moments that I should cherish more.

It’s the time where both of my kids laugh the most, play together, and get each other ever so excited. Who needs calm before bedtime? Clearly, not us, silly me!

  1. Ha ha it’s the witching hour isn’t it? Everything becomes super hyper in that hour – monkey is the same, running, dancing, spinning and giggling so much more than at any other time of the day. As my energy is flagging his seems to grow! Lots of fun though! Love the pair of them sat together in their jammies, so cute! xx

    • Hahaha isn’t that the truth. When I am ready to sit down and relax they seemingly go on a hyper rampage. Where does the energy come from at that time of the day I will never know. 😉

  2. Early pj’s are the way forward. After struggling to change an overtired O into his we now put them on straight after Abney and Teal. Saves a tiny bit of my sanity.
Gorgeous photos of your two xx

  3. Oh this is exactly the same in our house, between dinner and bedtime is when they are either at their most grumpy or their most hyper. Usually the first one. 😉 We call it the The Witching Hour. They look like butter wouldn’t melt here, nothing like the electronic babysitter to calm everyone down. 😉 x

    • Haha it’s only too bad the electric babysitter last but a moment. Lol they much rather run around in circles shouting and singing. But by witching hour momma is out if fuel!!! Thanks for hosting lovely.

  4. It’s the same here Jenny albeit with the one child. POD is either lovely or the devil child! I love the photos of the two of them together watching Cars – just adorable. I can only imagine the carnage afterwards. Lovely post, thank you for sharing #whatsthestory

    • Definitely labeled witching hour for a reason I supposed then. lol using is a hyper hour in this house. It was cute watching them watch the movie together for a second. It didn’t last long. 😉

    • I know, here too Karen. I never understood why kids get hyper when they are tired. I surely don’t get hyper when I am tired. I go to bed! lol 😉

    • Agreed Sara, they are great moments to remember. It won’t be long where they don’t even want to run around with their ole ma so I best enjoy it while I can.

  5. Ah, the witching hour! It’s calming down a bit now that my eldest is 7 and littlest is 3, but it can still take our breath away on occasions. Your two look gorgeous together in the photo though 🙂

    • Thank you Iona. Glad you witching hour isn’t a constant. It will go fast and I hopefully will be out of it all together with them being so close in age. Fingers crossed. 😉

    • Thank you hun, on most days it can be, just happy fun kids running around being their age. I just wish I had more energy at that time too. lol I know I love just after the bath, in their pjs, and about the only time they can both wear white safely and cuddle. Best memories and moments ever.

    • Thank you. Only sometimes, don’t let them foul you. lol They are the two hyper-est kids ever, especially together. I foresee them ganging up on mommy very soon.
