Pregnancy: 17 Weeks Bump Watch

Last updated on March 4th, 2024 at 10:12 pm

When I was first pregnant, it felt like the longest pregnancy. Each week, each milestone and each appointment seemed forever in between. The second time, it went quickly mostly because I was chasing a one year old at the same time. I always knew that with each pregnancy it would go faster and faster because that’s what life seems to do, moves at lightening speed, each year I am older. The third pregnancy, after finding out only days pregnant, I thought somehow it would be different. It would slow down since both kids are at school now. Since, I knew so much earlier than ever before, I envisioned it dragging out so I could really soak in every step of the way. Enjoying the first few flops and butterflies before the kicks. A few more weeks before the bump was out, out and clothes got tight. It would seem I was clearly mistaken.

When I write these posts I am already half way through that week so I can write about what it’s been like during the current week. At 17 weeks and half today, it feels weird that I am at the almost half way mark. I feel like I just announced it. I feel like I just accepted that a surprise baby boy is on it’s way to us. I think with the holidays of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, my birthday, hubby’s birthday, and a secret trip to Disney World come February that there is no time to sit and just soak up the little pregnancy moments. It’s making life feel just full of appointments and weeks are flying passed me too quickly. I am begging and willing it to slow down but it’s not.

My bump growth seems to not be slowing down either. I am twice the size than my previous two baby bumps at this stage. I have gained almost 20 pounds already… I blame a little holiday weight in there somewhere too. EEK. I love sleeping on my back but it would appear that baby hates it and is making it a little uncomfortable come bedtime. Other than that, the sickness seems to be slowing down. I am not just battling the dizziness from extremely low blood pressure but vertigo too. No one knows really which one is causing my symptoms more. Wish me luck, next week hopefully it will go away. I am optimistic.

BABY IS THE SIZE OF A POMEGRANATE AT 13 CM AND WEIGHING 167 GRAMS. BABY’S CARTILAGE IS TURNING TO BONES.

FUN FACT: BABY IS NOW GETTING FAT ON THOSE BONES TOO.

This week the number one question everyone is asking me: WHAT WILL YOU NAME YOUR BABY BOY?

HERE IS THE REVEAL IF YOU MISSED IT…. PLEASE WATCH THE KIDS HAD A BLAST FINDING OUT AND ANNOUNCING IT.

CRAVINGS & CHANGES:

This week, my smell is still out of this world. I am not liking chicken very much which I normally live off. Baby still hates coffee but some days I gag it down just because I do love the taste so much. It’s decaf, don’t worry. I am feeling more energy and not as frumpy. The sickness as I mentioned above is slowing down. I still have days where I feel like I want to be sick but don’t actual get sick anymore. I am battling vertigo and low blood pressure so am trying to take it easy. I am back in the gym but being cautious. It helps keeping fit and I have already lost 4 pounds just getting back to exercise. I gained almost 20 pounds really quick this time with being ill, no exercise, holiday food, and sitting on my butt far too much. So I am back to eating healthy and on a safe workout at the gym from a personal trainer that told me what to do to safely work out and only gain what I need and not all the extra, I have been lately. It’s about balance and I am listening to my body more but staying active.

Now, we need your help….. names are not our thing in this house. We both veto just about every suggestion that each other throws out there. We have five months left to figure out a name we will like and agree on. I would love a vowel boy name and hubby wants a strong name that everyone will know how to spell. Any suggestions, links, lists of great names please comment below and help us find that special name for our second baby boy. The first was hard enough to name.

PLEASE LEAVE BABY BOY NAME SUGGESTIONS BELOW!!!

  1. You’re looking fav at 17.5 weeks although I hope your vertigo and blood pressure ease up. I’m married to a man with a vowel name, Aaron. it’s quite a strong name and not a common one nowadays, but I really like Edward and Owen, don’t ask me why though haha!

  2. What a lovely gender reveal. I’m glad that your daughter doesn’t mind that it’s a boy. My daughter is desperate for a sister and won’t even consider the possibility that it might be a boy. We have no idea about names either x

    • Well if you look closer she almost broke down and cried and did shortly after the video and for a few days just wasn’t happy it’s not a little sister. But she held it well and said it would still be cute so we are all now accepting it’s a boy and I am out numbered hahaha
