A mini makeover for MM’s bedroom

Silentnight Room for a little one mini makeover

We have been working on MM’s bedroom makeover from nursery to little girl bedroom. Normally we jump all in and change everything all at once but this time I want to take my time in designing her bedroom. We started with some big girl accessories a few weeks back that you can see here. These were more toys for her to showcase on her dresser and that shout this isn’t a nursery anymore. I truly love them.

Since MM’s main wall in her room is fuscia pink it’s very powerful for the room. We are still deciding whether or not to paint it back to a neutral color and let her accessories pop with color instead. While I am in search of the perfect bed and bedding for her it will stay this color. I know I definitely want to add more color than just pink so possibly yellow and blue in her new bedding to tie it all together.

We also are waiting for her 3rd birthday to buy her a little girl bed as a present and get rid of her cotbed. Wow, I can’t even believe she is that old soon, already. In the meantime we had a little mini makeover of her cotbed corner of her bedroom to give it a little girl feel. As we slowly get rid of all the baby paraphernalia it gets me both sad and excited. Sad for the baby era to be truly over and excited for where the future takes us. But for now we are focusing on MM’s bedroom transformation. You can peak at how it used to look as her nursery here.

For MM’s mini makeover I started  with taking one side of her cotbed off and pushing it against the wall to form a daybed. We had this lovely duvet of grey clouds in B’s old little boy room so we kept it for her as well as we knew she would love it too. I love clouds. We got this gorgeous cloud night light that I put above her bed to match. She has recently become scared of the dark so it was the perfect addition for her little girl bedroom makeover.

Next I added the pink patch quilt I made for her when she was in my belly and matching pillow to the grey clouds to pull the pink into her bedding for now. Her favorite dolly and new star cushion have joined her pillows as well. She is obsessed with this little star cushion and I love it on her dresser but she insists it stay on her bed.

Finally, I pulled her nightstand that used to be sat next to her rocking chair for nursing, next to her new open cotbed. I got this lovely “The Unicorns Made Me Do It” print and put it in an ikea frame I had around the house. This totally sums up my daughter’s personality. I loved that the letters matched her pink wall as well.

I love her new little corner of her bedroom while we wait and find the best bed and bedding for her birthday. It’s such a big milestone moving from nursery to little girl bedroom and from cot to big beds. It’s one of those milestones that makes you feel like they grew up overnight all the sudden too. I can’t wait to get it all done and put together and watch her spend hours playing in her room like I did as a little girl. I have fond memories of playing with my lovely bedroom accessories growing up. I used to singing along to all my stuffed animals like they were the best audience ever.

Oh, how magical it is to be a little girl in her own bedroom.

  1. Such a beautiful room for a little girl and I think you’ve got the balance of pretty and ‘cool’ spot. on. Just lovely.

I know exactly what you mean about feeling sad about saying goodbye to ‘baby’ things too. I did a clear out of Elsie’s bedroom recently and she told me she no longer needed her rocking horse as it was too ‘baby-ish’. She’s right it is, but I still shed a few tears! x

    • My mother is the ultimate quilter so I learn from her. I love a deep vibrant pink for MM. It’s practically her signature color in all her clothes too.
