Friendships, a game, and startrite shoes #littleloves

Another week has come and gone and while February went so slow March is making up for it by flying at the speed of light. I truly believe this is the start of this year going by in a flash with some many upcoming plans. My momma will be here so very soon which is huge. She hasn’t been here since MM was born so I truly can’t wait.

It’s been a busy week of laundry with two sick babies but there was still time to love a few things too. Here is my #littleloves.

Read

Over the weekend I had so R&R time to read a real book. Yes, finally got my hands on one thanks to your beautiful host Morgana. I am half way through but it’s a witty and delightful read. Highly recommend it for chic lit lovers.

Heard

Breathing… or lack there of. I know that’s a cop out for this week but with croup it’s all about listening to their breathing. I can’t count the number of times I ran from both kids bedrooms this week with a drink of water, an inhaler, and calpol in my hand to make sure they were ok and breathing safely. We even had a trip to the emergency doctors for my son croup is asthma’s nemesis. It wasn’t something I expected to come home to from a long weekend with the girls. Talk about the guilt I felt on a high from my spa weekend to driving home on the last day like a mad woman worried about them being so ill without me there to cuddle and tell them it would be ok. We are hearing clearer breathing now and hopefully on the mend.

Startrite Shoes Review First Shoes
I have long loved the t-bar type shoes for Missy Moo’s little feet. There is something so cute and adorable about them. She has had a few pairs in the past that have lasted her ages. I was ever so excited to team up with Charles Clinkard and test out these plus pink t-bar Startrite shoes.

I was impressed with the quality of the shoe, its padded soles for comfort, and the buckle was easy to open and close. I think though Missy Moo was the one that was truly impressed. She wouldn’t stop looking and pointing at her new shoes everywhere we went. “Shoes” she shouted in the Starbucks line. “Shoes” she shouted in the grocery store. I almost regretted testing them out on errand day. To say she loved them is an understatement. Startrite Shoes Review First Shoes
She has worn them nonstop this week. They definitely have become her go to shoe for days out and errand running. I love the detail on the toe and it also allows her little feet to breath. She may be a princess but kids get sweaty feet let’s admit that and it makes them perfect for Spring / Summer time. She still has a little room to grow so they will be perfect for our upcoming trip to France and Spain. Startrite Shoes Review First Shoes

Made

I haven’t been in the kitchen much this week. It was more of a catch up and dealing with two little ones who had croup and very bad colds. I think I may have slept one night out of the entire week without getting up and going into one of them. It was tough. But I did get a chance to create these awesome Pop Book photobooks using a new app. I am not just raving about it as I already did that in my official review but I am lazy and don’t have time to sit and design photobooks and was so impressed with how fast I did these two books. I love the idea that I can print mini photo albums each month of my favorite instagram photos or iphone captures and at such a cheap price it’s worth it. Then I will have a whole collection at the end of the year both of the kids and my food styling to pour over. (pst.. click the review link to enter the giveaway.. five lucky winners).

And lastly…

Center Parcs Sherwood Spa Weekend
I have talked about how blogging has changed my life and making friends online before but this past weekend really was something more for me than just that. I went on my very first girlie spa weekend away from the kids with three other ‘real life” blogger friends. Living as an expat in England hasn’t always been the easiest and since having babies it only made it that much harder being so far from family. After eight years I have made a handful of friends, but blogging has brought me a group of ladies that not only get the family life, the everyday life but get the blogging life too. That is rare. They get, understand, and experience all the same aspects of life that I do and we share so much in common between the four of us, it is the best feeling in the world being around them. We motivate each other. We inspire each other. We make each other laugh uncontrollably (just see video above). I have never felt that in a group of ladies. I truly can say this past weekend felt so great to let my hair down and have a break from work, the house, kids and people depending on me. I got to stay up late, eat bad (good) food, have a drink (or few) and do what I wanted, when I wanted.  I can’t thank the girls enough for everything. I never thought starting my blog would go further than documenting my family memories! They have made being in England a whole different experience now. Friendships in life are so important. I say, “good friends are rare gems, treat them like one!”

*we were sent these startrite shoes but all opinions are my own.

  2. Ah looks like ye had a great weekend!! The perfect girly getaway! Loved the vlog, I smiled from start to finish!!
I get the stressful week you have had with the kiddies being sick, we seem to have had sickness in our house in one shape or another for the last month! Fingers crossed it’s gone and we can all get back to normal!!
Love the shoes- we love t-bar shoes too xx

  3. Aw Jenny that last bit almost brought a tear to my eye! I’m so pleased that you’ve found such great friends through blogging when you are so far from your family home where you grew up. I absolutely adore the shoes!! And frankly a bit jealous because I don’t have a little girl to buy some T-bar shoes for – you’re right they are ever so cute. Having said that, the boys have some lovely t-bar ‘Doodles’ to choose from in Clarks. Glad to hear the kids are recovering from their croup – I can imagine that must be really quite a terrifying thing to experience in your children as a parent. Hope you have another great weekend hon Xx #littleloves

    • Oh yes croup is definitely scary and each time it never gets easier. I always panic. The shoes are lovely. We really love them. Clarks are good too. Yes I am very grateful to know each one of them.

  4. Ahhh Jenny, do you know what, this has helped reaffirm a feeling I’ve had for a while, which is that through all of the drama and worry about stats and who’s doing what and why, the main thing to have come out of blogging, for me, is friendship and it’s so amazing that a hobby can bring together women from all over the UK like this. I’m so glad I met you at Britmums last year and have got to know you over the last few months. You’re a fab lady xxx

  5. Having moved around a fair bit myself I understand how you feel about your friends. I would probably be blubbering if it were not for the fact I’m getting my own girly weekend starting later today! The video was hilarious! I love MM’s shoes, I really need to get some new ones for Aaron – they grow so fast at this stage!

  7. What a lovely post. The friendships that come out of blogging are amazing aren’t they?
I love the startrite shoes. They are so pretty and practical. So many shoes for little girls are slip ons and once they run around they come flying off.
I hope the children have recovered from their croup and you can all have a restful weekend together x

    • Thanks yes kids on the mend. Thankfully. I was a blubbering mess at first so scary. Friendships through blogging are amazing because you can share so much in common. I love a good t bar shoe for that reason alone. Lol

  8. Looks like you had so much fun! Typical to come home from such a great weekend to find two sick kids waiting for you, my little one gets croup and it’s horrible seeing them so ill, glad your two are on the mend. Love MM’s shoes, they’re adorable – I miss baby girl shoes and clothes (mine’s 13 now). It’s lovely that blogging has led you to friends that have made being in the UK that much better, as a fellow expat I totally get what it’s like being away from family and old friends. Have a lovely weekend x

Your video from your trip to Center Parcs is hilarious and definitely brightened up my week. I love MM’s shoes. Startrite traditional little girl shoes are the best aren’t they? I have my eye on a pair of white ones for when Charlotte is walking. Hope you all have a lovely weekend xx

Yes seems like the season to get ill when the weather is changing. Hoping we break through it by next week as our calendars are full up.

  17. Great little loves despite the croup and colds. Croup is awful, I remember G having it and needing a mask to help with his breathing. I hope they are both fighting fit now. Your video is hilarious. I love how you had to keep reigning the girls in. Love Missy’s shoes. Have you seen the red ones Little Bird do from Mothercare? They’re so cute. #LittleLoves x
